Booker |
Blabbermouth reports: Launch Radio Networks
reports: The scammer who's been offering clubs a phony chance to book DAVID

in shows by GUNS N' ROSES leader Axl Rose, POISON, POISON frontman Bret
Michaels, and ALICE IN CHAINS. The phony agent has used a few different
names, including one that's very similar to the name of Roth's real, well-known
booking agent, who said, "He's using my name. That's where he really crossed
the line with me. I'm going to drop coin on the table to find this nut."

MySpace
A&R |
PR reports: Feel - good rockers, The Summer
Obsession, a band who owe a great deal to everyone's friend "Tom." They
were discovered in 2004 by Myspace founder Tom Anderson and became one
of the first Myspace Music bands. The initial Myspace buzz propelled the
band forward and by 2005 they were entering the studio with Josh Abraham
(Pink, Velvet Revolver.) The Summer Obsession will release their debut
album, This is Where You Belong, on Virgin Records with just a few days
of summer to spare (August 29th). The album is an upbeat soundtrack for
the hard times. Musically inspired by extensive and varied pop and rock
influences including The Police, Rage Against the Machine and Blink-182,
the songwriting pulls from the band's own personal experiences as well
as stories from their fan mail. THIS IS WHERE YOU BELONG captures the warmth
and carefree essence of summer's dog days for those times when life gets
dark and cold. Find out if Tom has any taste at the full story link. -

Zutons
Soph |
PR reports: 24 year-old, Singer/guitarist,
David McCabe is feeling good about feeling bad. The songs for The Zutons'
second album, Tired Of Hangin' Around, have been pouring out of him - 'and
loads of them are about giving yourself a bit of a hard time,' the band's
frontman says cheerfully, ''cause you've gone out and got drunk or let
someone down. But it's looking at it from a sarcastic point of view.'
It's Alright is a case in point. Full of
the energetic rock'n'soul that helped The Zutons land five Top 40 singles
(Pressure Point, You Will You Won't, Remember Me, Don't Ever Think and
Confusion) from their 2004 debut Who Killed The Zutons? it's a barrelling
song with clattering percussion about 'being defiant in the face of your
hangover. It's the new Dirty Dancehall.' Album in stores September 19,
2006, a preview to be had at the full story link.- Click

Pillar
Tracks |
PR reports: As evidenced by their fourth release
overall, The Reckoning, the Oklahoma-based quartet, Pillar, continue to
hone their melodic yet simple and tough sound. "We're all from the Midwest.
It's all about real rock and roll," explains singer Rob Beckley. And while
Reckoning should appeal to fans of good ol' rock and roll, there is a modern
edge to the tunes as well - the Tool-esque "Awake," the Jimmy Eat World-like
"Sometimes," and the Rage Against the Machine vs. AC/DC heavyweight bout,
"Everything." CD in stores October 3rd, 2006.
Tracks: Everything * Awake * When Tomorrow
Comes * The Reckoning * Tragedy * Last Goodbye * Angel In Disguise * Elysian
* Crossfire * Resolution * Sometimes * Wherever The Wind Blows * Chasing

offers its bands and fans the best of both worlds. Their aim is not only

Creative
Bankruptcy |
antiMusic reports: Today we welcome a brand
new columnist to antiMusic, Felicity Estrin. She kicks things off with
this look at the major label creative machine, or rather the creative bankruptcy
behind The Machine. Here is a sample from the full column:
In recent months it has occurred to me
that it's an interesting irony that the very mechanism the BMG/RCA execs
have set up to make themselves even richer has wound up painfully exposing
their own creative bankruptcy. The raison d'etre of American Idol has been
to sell records, and in as mass a quantity as possible, and they've certainly
succeeded at that. But somewhere along the way, as the show has become
a mega-phenomenon, something has gone a bit awry for The Machine.
American Idol has attracted millions of
viewers internationally. Young idealistic singers go on with (often) tons
of talent, singing material that is actually worth listening to, get tons
of exposure and, in the process, everyone's hopes up. Then they're released
to the so-called creative team of the BMG group and the recycled pseudo-music
that ensues disappoints so many nearly every time. Literally millions of
people, who have become invested in the success of their favorites, are
left scratching their heads and asking, "What the Hell happened there?"
[She's just getting started, whether you like American Idol or not, this
affects almost all genres of music, so click the full story link to read
