McCartney
Stole Song? |
Day in Rock reports: Does Paul McCartney owe
Curtis Mayfield's estate some royalties? The intro and 1st verse of the
song "Anyway" from McCartney's latest album Chaos And Creation In The
Back Yard sounds strikingly familiar to the Jeff Beck / Rod Stewart
arrangement of Mayfield's "People Get Ready". While many astute reviewers
picked up on this "borrowing" when reviewing the album when it was released
last year, we have learned that McCartney is definitely familiar with the
song. In March 99 when McCartney was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall
of Fame as a solo artist (along with Mayfield), McCartney participated
in an all-star jam with Bono, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel and yes
one of the four songs they performed was "People Get Ready," according
to SpringsteenLyrics.com [see the full story link to read their account
of that performance]- Click

Pink
Vs Paris |
Contact Music reports: Pop star PINK is outraged
teenage girls are so fixated with PARIS HILTON they think it's "cool to

there is nothing wrong with being sexy. But she is appalled by the popularity
of Hilton's raunchy homemade film with ex-lover RICK SALOMAN, 1 NIGHT IN

Doors
Sellout? |
Reuters reports: As the Doors' surviving members
gear up for the band's 40th anniversary -- with plans for a comprehensive
boxed set, reissues, merchandise and an interactive Las Vegas attraction
-- there is a possibility that their music may be used in commercials for
the first time. "Selling out the Doors is not an option. On the other hand,
certain commercials can be effective at reaching listeners," said manager
Jeff Jampol.[see full story for more of the lame justification on why this
isn't selling out.]- Click

Zutons
Rash |
The Tripwire reports: When it comes to food
and beverages, always stick with what you know... especially when you are
in a band that is on the road. Unfortunately, Zutons singer Dave McCabe
didn't follow this advice and landed himself in the hospital. The frontman
ended up having an allergic reaction to a drink, requiring him to receive
treatment for a bad rash. There was good news for fans wanting to catch
the band's performance in Amsterdam that night, as McCabe was still able
to make the trip so the show went on without a hitch. [see full story for

the ZOMBIE tour and calling the headliners "money-grabbing f***s"[see full
