Mastodon & Friends
punkbands reports: Mastodon recently spoke to MTV about their upcoming major label debut for Warner. The record is the follow up to 2004's Leviathan and their first for the major label. The band enlisted the aid of a number of like minded musicians including Scott Kelly of Neurosis, Mars Volta keyboardist Ikey Owens, and Mars Volta frontman Cedric Bixler Zavala, who sings on "The Siberian Divide." Though the band wouldn't reveal the entire "plot" of the album, they did explain that it "will revolve around an unnamed citizen's ascension to the apex of a snowcapped mountain." Sex Awards
Rockdirt reports: The Sun reports that next year, ITV want the Brit Awards organizers to book acts with more edge, with '70s punk gods the Sex Pistols topping the wish list. "We don't have the outrageous behavior we used to," an insider said. "That is because we don't have acts on such as Oasis. We tend to focus on the biggest bands of the year. Cattle Karma
Metal Blade reports: Cattle Decapitation is happy to announce Karma.Bloody.Karma as the title of the next record.

NO, there is not any religious significance of the title. NO, the name does not imply that we're "crazy vegans" trying to push our lifestyle onto people (as a lot of gabbing internet idiots like to pigeonhole us as). It is simply about the "greatest natural disaster of all time," humanity, and revenge for its effect on this planet. This will be the most nihilistic, pessimistic and hateful record we've ever done lyrically, and musically you can expect, what one of our friends has said perfectly about it, a very "schizophrenic" release! Imagine the Caninus split material, just longer in every way. Karma.Bloody.Karma features guest appearances by Jo ey Karam (The Locust) and Jo hn Wiese (Sunn0))), Bastard Noise) and was produced by Billy Anderson (Swans, Mr. Bungle, Melvins). Available July 2006! [see full story for the goddamn track list]- Click Here for the Full Story

digital Silly
Press Release reports: Somewhere in a recording studio in Toronto, Canada, David Trusz and Johanne Williams are waking to the sound of a click track. They are using the heat generated by vintage synthesizers to keep warm, and the warm glow of three computer screens to guide their way. Their skin is pale from a lack of sunlight and their retinas have Pro Tools waveforms permanently burned in. Entrenched in a throwback operation of sorts, Trusz and Williams represent Canada's latest electronic music export, Sissy, and they are on a mission to fight the digital revolution. Sissy's debut album, All Under, is set for release this spring, licensed to GU Music.

Creating music and lyrics based on pure, raw emotion, Sissy exploit the best of new school technology, while leaning heavily on older gear and instruments for their unique character and color. Moogs and Oberheims rumble, tape delay machines echo into oblivion while vocals weave in, out, through, under, and above. Dark, moody foundations serve Williams' distinctive vocal and clever songwriting, nowhere more evident than the album's first single, "I See You", an eerie, prog/electro driver slowed down 20 bpm.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
