CBGB RIP
Punkbands reports: Yahoo News/Associated Press has just released this article with breaking news in the CBGB's battle to stay open. The news is unfortunate for the club and it's supporters:

As several hundred enthusiastic supporters rallied to keep CBGB's open, the landlord of the venerable punk club announced Wednesday that the lease on the 32-year-old landmark will not be renewed.

The Bowery Residents' Committee, landlord of the building on the Bowery, "believes it is in the best interest of our clients � the homeless and neediest New Yorkers � to sever this relationship," BRC executive director Muzzy Rosenblatt said. The existing lease was to expire at midnight Wednesday. siN's metal news reports: SMNnews.com has received reports from sources close to the OZZFEST 2005 camp that 2nd Stage artists MASTODON have been kicked off the OZZFEST 2005 bill, and are no longer a part of the tour. The statement reportedly indicates that the band were (or have been) "destroying" things backstage while drunk and disorderly, and have been considered problematic. Blabbermouth reports: The New York Daily News is reporting LINKIN PARK frontman Chester Bennington blasted a Mansion nightclub bodyguard, alleging that the security man had shoved his pregnant girlfriend. "He was forcibly pushing her away with his arm and I had to get in between them," Bennington said. "So I shoved him back." The rocker revealed that he may bring legal action against the club, and said he spit on one of the bouncers as he stormed away from the party. Gigwise reports: The White Stripes frontman Jack White has admitted lying about his relationship with his band mate Meg White as he didn't believe critics would take a former married couple seriously.

Jack insisted that Meg was his sister for years, but a Detroit newspaper discovered in 2002 that the couple were married in 1996 and printed their wedding certificate.

Suge Suspect
Gigwise reports: Police are investigating whether or not Rap mogul Marion �Suge' Knight shot himself or was accidentally shot by one of his entourage.

Police have found it hard to find a suspect for the shooting as many witnesses have said they didn't see an assailant and have not been able to give a physical description. They are currently waiting on ballistics evidence to determine the origin of the bullet.
