Britney Sued For Song Theft
AP reports: An Indiana songwriter is suing singer Britney Spears for copyright infringement, claiming he wrote the song "Sometimes" 15 years ago. 

An attorney for Steve Wallace of Anderson filed a complaint May 5 in federal court against Spears, her album promoter, Sony/BMG Music Publishing Inc., and recording and publishing companies affiliated with the singer. 

The complaint acknowledges Wallace did not formally copyright his song until 2003. A few weeks after writing the song in 1990, he executed what's commonly known as a "poor man's" copyright: He placed his work in a sealed envelope and obtained a postmark. Chappelle Hospitalized
ABC reports: [Not rock related but Dave rocks, so here is some sad news] Comedy Central star Dave Chappelle has checked himself into a mental health facility in South Africa, the magazine Entertainment Weekly reported on Wednesday. 

The comedian's whereabouts and condition have been unknown since Comedy Central abruptly announced last week that the planned May 31 launch of the third season of "Chappelle's Show" had been postponed and production halted. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Bands Vs Oasis
DiS reports: Some bands what were dissed somewhat by ol' big-maaaf Liam Gallagher in the New Musical Express t'other week 'ave hit back at the band what panned 'em, sayin' all kinds of potty-mouthed s***e. 

The Kaiser Chiefs ("a bad Blur"), The Paddingtons ("f***ing awful") and Keane ("twats") all suffered the wrath of Gallagher junior, and had the following to say in their defence:

Club NME Death
DiS reports: A man in his mid-30s fell to his death this weekend at Camden Town's KOKO venue. 

The man, who is yet to be officially named, was out with workmates for this past Friday's (7th May) regular Club NME event, when he fell from the first-floor balcony down to the dancefloor, sustaining severe head injuries. Metal Church Say Goodbye
BW&BK reports: The METAL CHURCH website has been updated with the following statement from founder Kurdt Vanderhoof in regards to the death of the band's original singer, David Wayne, who passed away on May 10th. Kurdt's statement reads: "This is a very sad, sad day. At this moment I'm in total shock about this tragedy. I feel the music world has lost a legendary and unique talent. He will be missed greatly by all.

Double Maiden
BW&BK reports: Iron Maiden have confirmed they are to release a double DVD and live album titled Death On The Road through EMI Records on August 29th, 2005. 

The show was filmed at the Westfalenhalle Arena, Dortmund, Germany during the Dance Of Death European Tour in December 2003 and fully captures the magnificent stage production and electricity of the band's performance. Steve Harris once again took weeks personally editing the footage and like Rock In Rio this means thousands of cuts right into the heart of the action. Warning: Paris CD in Aug
andPOP reports: The end of the summer will signal the start of Paris Hilton's singing career, if all goes as she plans. 

Hilton, in Toronto last week promoting her movie House of Wax, told MuchMusic that she is hard at work on the album in Los Angeles.

andPOP reports: Drummer Chris Wilson has left Good Charlotte due to health problems, according to a post on the band's web site. 

"Many of you may already know, our drummer Chris Wilson has been on and off the road due to personal health problems," the band wrote.

KNAC reports: Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page accompanied the suits from Warner Music Group, and helped ring the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange today as the music publisher celebrated its initial public stock offering.

Patti Smith's Meltdown Fest
NME reports: More names have been added to the swelling line-up for PATTI SMITH's MELTDOWN FESTIVAL. 

The annual season at London's South Bank Centre will this year be curated by the punk icon to mark 30 years since the release of her seminal work �Horses'. Smith performs the album in full on June 25 at the Royal Festival Hall. 

Smith's peers Television play two shows at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on June 20-21. Meanwhile, the punk reunion will also see former Voidods leader Richard Hell, who retired from music in 1984, reading from his new novel �Godlike' on June 18.
