Coheed
and Mainstream |
punkbands reports: Coheed and Cambria had
a few things to say about their upcoming Columbia Records debut. The record,
titled Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV: Volume 1. From Fear Through the
Eyes of Madness is due out September 20th. Vocalist Claudio Sanchez had
this to say:
I think it's more of a straight-forward
sounding Coheed, The first nine songs of the record are very straightforward
and are very smooth. Then when we get to the end of the record, it's a
piece called 'The Willing Well,' with four conceptual long tracks. There's
a song on it that is called 'The Final Cut,' which is very bluesy [and]
Pink Floyd sounding. [see full story for more]- Click

Black
Dahlia Fisticuffs |
Metal Blade reports: Oak Park thrash metallers
The Black Dahlia Murder were forced to cancel band practice last Friday
after drummer Zach Gibson's involvement in alcohol fueled fisticuffs outside
of a small party at his Taylor home. According to Zach, 19, a drunken man,
whom he had never met, was making inappropriate advances toward Zach's
significant other. It was at this time that Zach asked the inappropriate
party to exit the building. Outside, Mr. Gibson was allegedly "swung upon"
by the drunken man, and was forced to retaliate. The next morning Zach's
hand was reportedly "Huge", and "couldn't hold a drumstick.", resulting
ultimately in the cancellation. This is the first time The Black Dahlia
Murder has cancelled practice since The Great Kempainen Birthday/Funeral
and the ungodly appearance of The Mysterious Gooch Rash. We wish the best
to these gentlemen, and hope never to hear of another missed band practice,
ever, ever again. [see full story for more]- Click

Hellfest
Boycott |
antiMusic reports: "100$ for a show IS NOT
HARDCORE!!!!!" So reads the Myspace page for one individual who has taken
up the battle of calling for a boycott of Hellfest because it has gone
corporate. Below is the general call for the boycott, check out the full
story link for more.
"I don't know about you, but I think that
hardcore is dead and the values that once brought us together are history.
$100 bucks for a show is outrageous, even if there are so many bands playing.
I do understand that there are expenses to cover and whatnot, but come
on!!! This is a slap in the face to the hardcore community. I know that
there are so many people out there who are going and can afford to go but
there are just as many who want to be a part and are going to be left out.
Hardcore USED to be a community... now the community is so large that even
the people who started it "back in the day" are selling it out (youth of
today...bold). What is it all coming to? I think that the idea of a HUGE
fest is great...but WHAT is this really for? The "KIDS" or " THE BUSINESS?"...
TAKE BACK WHAT WAS ONCE YOURS!!!!! $100 for a show IS NOT HARDCORE!!!!!"
