Doherty
Vs Geldof |
Rockdirt reports: After Babyshambles singer
Pete Doherty claimed Sir Bob Geldof's 16-year-old daughter Peaches had
squeezed his butt before he went on stage to duet with Elton John at the
anti-poverty extravaganza, the singer is now issuing an apology. He told
The Mirror in a phone message, "Hello it's, errr, Pete Doherty here and
I'm a little bit concerned about a story that's been going about saying
one of Bob Geldof's kids is harassing me. I've been trying to ehhh, get
hold of his number myself, but I've had a bit of, errr, trouble. So could
you put in your paper Pete Doherty would like to apologize to Bob and his
daughters."- Click

Southern
Pantera |
Day in Rock reports: You can now hear a track
from Southern Isolation that features Phil Anselmo (Pantera / Superjoint
Ritual / Down) on their Myspace page. Phil writes about Southern Isolation's
Opal on the page "She is a breath of fresh air on a world of pre-programmed
rap and hip-hop oriented drivel, full up to the hilt with mechanical lifelessness.
All instruments are physically played by people!! Not programmed by pop-culture
mongers out to sever the true vein of True musicians who want to carry
on the perfect tradition of music from the late 60's to the mid 90's. And
the scattered few modern bands that feel the same passion most of which
lay in the deepest recesses of the underground (which still only compensate
for a handful of bands). This is the goal of Baphomet/Housecore Records
in general. Opal fits the mould perfectly. It will be a privilege and quite
a ride to watch her grow as an artist and a personality, more to come...obviously."

Jason
Mraz Update |
Insound reports: "MR. A-Z" Jason Mraz's pseudo-self-titled
second album hits stores today, July 26th. And though it certainly has
elements of a sequel to his debut, "Waiting For My Rocket To Come," Mraz
and his band, along with producer Steve Lillywhite, have created something
that touches on more of the aspects that have made Mraz such an adored
artist of today's music scene.
Catch Jason on the weekend edition of Today
on July 30th (if you are in NYC head down to Rockefeller Plaza in the AM
to catch the free performance).
Head over to Jason's MySpace page to hear
4 tracks from the album: the first single "Wordplay", the beautifully moving
"Plane", "Geek in the Pink" and "Did You Get My Message". Click the full

Billy
Joe Shaver Update |
conqueroo reports: Five years ago, Billy Joe
Shaver's life was marked by tragedy, death and his own failing health.
As he prepares to unleash his first new studio album in three years, The
Real Deal (Compadre Records) on September 20, his life has turned around.
He's recently been featured on CBS's "60 Minutes II" with Dan Rather and
NPR's "Fresh Air" with Terry Gross. He is scheduled to appear as a featured
performer on an upcoming "CMT Outlaws" special and will perform the national
anthem at the August 15 "Sirius Satellite Radio at the Glen" Nextel Cup
NASCAR race in Watkins Glen, New York. Indeed it seems like he's experienced
everything a musician canexcept that he has never self-produced an album.
Shaver has been tapped to join Merle Haggard,
Toby Keith, Jerry Lee Lewis, Shelby Lynne and more for CMT's highly anticipated
"CMT Outlaws" concert special, reaching 100 million homes. He will be a
featured writer at the 2005 Texas Book Festival in Austin this October
promoting his autobiography Honky Tonk Hero (University of Texas Press).
He is also a "spiritual advisor" to the Texas gubernatorial campaign of
longtime friend Kinky Friedman. Last year he was named Texas State Musician
by the Texas Commission on the Arts, and was inducted into the Nashville
Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Shaver will tour the U.S. (as well as every
town in Texas) from the summer months well into the fall.[see full story
