Gogol
Bordello Warped |
PFA reports: New York rebels Gogol Bordello
will bring their cathartic and debauched gypsy punk rock show, complete
with vaudevillian border guards and a distinctly rambunctious political
message to this year's 2005 Vans Warped Tour. Set to join the tour on July
3 in Ventura, CA the band caught the eye of Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman
at The Voodoo Festival in New Orleans last fall. After being blown away
by the live show, Lyman heard the band was looking for a new label and
brought them over to SideOneDummy Records. He also picked them up for eleven
dates in July on the Vans Warped Tour '05.
Gogol Bordello's third full-length recording
"GYPSY PUNKS: Underdog World Strike," was produced by Steve Albini (Nirvana,
Jimmy Page/Robert Plant) in glorious analogue sound and will be released
on SideOneDummy Records on Aug. 9. [see full story for more]-

Cranes
America |
Hello Wendy reports: British band Cranes are
gearing up for the North American release of their new album Particles
& Waves on notable Los Angeles-based indie label Manifesto this September.
The band started its career in the late 80s and impressively recorded a
Peel Session for legendary BBC DJ John Peel shortly after their very first
release. As a non-dueling UK siblings act (Alison Shaw and Jim Shaw), the
band has already made the annals of pop history while their distinctive
and haunting sound has only furthered the band's influence.
Particles & Waves is the band's first
release in over four years and the North American version of the record
will be packaged with a bonus live performance DVD of four tracks taken
from the album. This will be the first-ever DVD release of any Cranes material
and a sure gift for fans. The band will be touring major North American
markets in support of Particles & Waves in later fall, with tour dates
to be announced.[see full story for more]- Click
