Bud Mocks Nipplegate
Contactmusic reports: Beer giants BUDWEISER will be poking fun at JANET JACKSON's SUPER BOWL 2004 breast-baring blunder in its upcoming commercial campaign.

In the company's latest ad, a crew member is seen trying to find a bottle opener backstage at the Super Bowl to open a Budweiser.

When he comes across the nipple rings on Jackson's black leather costume, he uses one to open the bottle, ripping the outfit. He tries to patch it back together with cellotape and chewing gum. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Metalhead Vs Microsoft
BW&BK reports: Jeffrey Lee Parson, the teenager from Minnesota, who wrote the Blaster-B Internet worm which launched an attack against Microsoft's web site has been sentenced to 18 months in prison and 10 months community service by a US District Court.

Parson's worm, the court heard, infected 48,000 computers and caused an estimated $1.2 million in damage when it spread in August 2003.

Parson, who went by the online handle of "Teekid", based his virus upon the virulent Blaster-A worm which exploited a serious security hole in Microsoft's software as it spread around the globe. Parson included a link inside the worm to his web site where he made viruses available for download alongside lyrics for songs by JUDAS PRIEST, MEGADETH and Weird Al Yankovic. Let the Jacko Trial Begin
AP reports: The child molestation case against Michael Jackson is finally ready for a trial that promises to be like no other. Jury selection begins Monday, with Jackson expected to appear, in a case that has become a symbol of the American obsession with celebrity.

Early Sunday, Jackson issued a court-approved video statement on his Web site, calling recent media leaks in the case "disgusting and false" and predicting he would be acquitted.

"Please keep an open mind and let me have my day in court," Jackson said, looking directly into the camera. "I deserve a fair trial like every other American citizen. I will be acquitted and vindicated when the truth is told." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

MTV Grasp At Music (promos)
Reuters reports: At a time when reality and youth lifestyle shows -- not videos -- dominate MTV's main programming hours, the network is looking to music-related contests, tour sponsorships and other off-channel marketing initiatives to drive its identity as a music brand.

Contests, tour sponsorships and special events are nothing new for MTV. But they are growing in number and scope as the network attempts to expand the slate of exposure opportunities it can offer artists and labels in lieu of video play. These opportunities are becoming increasingly important to MTV's music strategy, as the bulk of its on-air programming centers on shows like "The Osbournes," "The Real World" and "Newlyweds." Cinderella Hits
press release reports: "When we got on stage the first night (for a 2000 reunion tour) and saw the crowd, we all just looked at each other, like, 'Where did all these people come from?' It was like '89 all over again." So recalls Tom Keifer in the liner notes to Cinderella - Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits (Mercury/UMe), released January 25, 2005. Even the group was surprised to discover that, while one of the most popular bands of the late '80s, Cinderella had become much more--an indispensable musical touchstone of the decade.

Featuring 17 selections, each 96k/24-bit digitally remastered from the original master tapes, Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits includes all of Cinderella's Top 40 pop hits, Top 40 Album Rockers and favorite album cuts.

Released simultaneously is Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Video Hits (Mercury/UMe), a DVD collection of the 10 videos for all of its hits. The audio for each has been digitally remastered in 5.1 Surround. The DVD also boasts a "Making Of 'Heartbreak Station'" featurette and excerpts from the 1988 homevideo Tales From The Gypsy Road, along with new commentary by Tom Keifer & Eric Brittingham.
