U2
Vs Fans |
Groove Revolt reports: Tickets for the North
American and European legs of U2s forthcoming Vertigo tour were pre-sold
to members of the bands fan club Tuesday morning (January 25); however,
instead of looking forward to the kickoff of the tour in San Diego, California,
thousands of fans are up in arms over the way in which the presale was
conducted after being shut out and they have jammed U2 message boards to
express their displeasure.
U2 fans who paid the bands fan club for
a membership late last year were told that the membership would allow them
to gain priority access to tickets, including the coveted low-priced General
Admission tickets that proved so popular on the bands Elevation tour.
The bands organization emailed patrons
a personalized password late last week along with links to a page from
which fans could choose a specific show. Unfortunately, when fans attempted
to link to the page this morning, many were unable to get through. [see

Gotti
Charged |
AP reports: Murder Inc. founder Irv "Gotti"
Lorenzo, the hip-hop record label behind superstars Ja Rule and Ashanti,
was charged on Wednesday with laundering more than $1 million in drug money
from a multistate crack and heroin operation.
Gotti, who named his company after a crime
syndicate and borrowed his nickname from a Mafia don, made no secret of
his friendship with Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff, one of New York's most notorious
drug lords.
"They don't call it gangster rap for nothing,"
said Frederick Snellings, special agent-in-charge of the FBI's New York
criminal division. "It's pretty clear that the image isn't accidental."

sufficient quantity for the Norwegian authorities to prosecute members
of HANOI's touring party said that it was left on the bus by a fan even
though the police sniffer dog found it on one of the 13 people on the bus
during the search. [see full story for more]- Click

Eminem,
Linkin Park & 50 Cent Tour? |
antiMusic reports: Will we see a stadium tour
featuring Eminem, Linkin Park and 50 Cent in the near future? That is the
speculation. Sources have told Billboard.com that "very preliminary talks"
are in the works for the possible stadium outing.
Although the magazine was unable to confirm
the possibility with agents for the artists at the William Morris Agency,
they did report that sources said that at least one other rock act would
be included. (maybe Metallica? That's just an antiMusic guess). [see full

called in computer experts to trace the material on the internet, reports
British newspaper THE SUN.
The band discovered filesharing website
WinMX appeared to have six songs from the disc available to subscribers,

Scott Wino Weinrich has posted the following reply at the Forum section
of the bands official website (www.thehiddenhand.com), in response to
a fan question asking if drummer Dave Hennesey was leaving the band.
Says Wino, Hello. Yes, it's true. The
Pentagram show was Dave's last show. This was voluntary, amicable and expected.
We love Dave, and he will be missed, but
being in two bands and having to travel long distances to practice, and
hold down a full time job was too much. We all agreed it was for the best,
and the next night we auditioned, and confirmed his replacement, Evan Tanner.

When
Bono Met Bush |
Rockdirt reports: The New York Daily News
reports U2 frontman Bono still laughs about the meeting where President
Bush had to pound his fist to distract the rocker from his own eloquence
about the AIDS crisis. "He banged the table at me once when I was ranting
at him about AIDS drugs," Bono recalled. "He banged the table to ask me
to let him reply. I was very impressed that he could get so passionate.
And let's face it, tolerating an Irish rock star is not a necessity of
his office." - Click

Ike
Reilly Assassination Buzz building |
press release reports: The Ike Reilly Assassination,
which hails from Chicago, has been busy touring the United States for the
past six months and making many new fans along the way with their impressive
and, as several writers have called it, incendiary live show. New York
City shows have been drawing punk rock luminaries and music movers and
shakers for months now. Additional tour dates for the next few weeks will
have the band sweeping across the Midwest (see tour dates at the pull story
link). Press has been especially supportive of the bands latest album
Sparkle In The Finish; in recent months, Ike has been featured on the
cover of the arts section of the New York Times, while stellar reviews
have been pouring in: Maxim gave it 4 out of 5 stars, the Chicago Sun-Times
and the Boston Herald both gave it 3 ½ out of 4 stars, the Knoxville
News-Sentinel gave it 5 out of 5 stars, while the Chicago Tribune called
it one of the top 10 indie albums of 2004. In a scenario that is highly
unusual for an indie band, VH1 News is airing a news item on the band repeatedly
during their morning time slots over the next few weeks.-

Raven's
Heart Thanks |
Day in Rock reports: Another quick follow
up on the Raven's Heart Foundation Benefit from last week. Misse Robinson,
Raven's mother asked us to pass along this thank you message.
I wanted to take a moment out of
my chaotic life to say thank you. Thank you to all who have gone to www.ravensheart.org
and emailed letters of encouragement, made donations and sent your love
from across the globe. I also wanted it to be known as to why my daughter
is "so special" as to have all of these amazing people come together for
her. One man, Happenin' Harry. Let me start at the beginning, you all know
Raven was born with a hole in her heart, called VSD, an illness that affects
more children than cancer or leukemia. It is just not known outside of
the medical community because there hasn't been large exposure like there
is for those illnesses and AIDS. I needed help, and couldn't find any.
My husband and I are huge Metallica fans among other bands and have some
really wonderful collectibles, so we decided to sell are precious items
to help our baby girl live. This is where Harry comes in; I had seen Harry
and the Haptones play a few times and got to know Harry through his newsletters
he diligently submits every three days. I wrote him a letter about Raven
and the items I wanted to sell, asking if he knew of any buyers. He called
me immediately and said, "You aren't selling your stuff!" "Let me see what
I can do." And in a snap, Raven had her hero. He made calls to everyone
he knew and had her website up within a day, courtesy of Keavin Wiggins,
www.antimusic.com. He put together the benefit in two months getting people
to commit from all over. I was and still am astonished. He did all of this
because he WANTED to. My daughter needed a voice and that voice is Happenin
Harry! From the bottom of her mending heart, THANK YOU HARRY!!! Kids with
heart illness will benefit from Harry and Raven as we continue her foundation
to raise awareness and provide family's with a source of hope and strength.
