Ashlee
Booed |
antiMUSIC reports: Ashlee Simpson was ready
to prove she didn't need to lip-synch when she took the microphone during
the FedEx Orange Bowl half-time show on Tuesday night. Fate had a different
idea. Ashlee began her performance with microphone problems. During the
opening bars of her song "La La", Ashlee was barely audible due to a low
microphone, when the volume was finally turned up, the 70,000 strong audience
turned up the volume as well by jeering and booing the pop singer. [see

Inspired Murder |
Blabbermouth reports: A New Jersey man who
killed his mother and then stabbed an 11-year-old boy to death claimed
that he was influenced by a METALLICA song about a boy who "lost my way
this bloody day" when he committed the crime, according to The Philadelphia
Inquirer.
Ronald Pituch, 29, pleaded guilty two months
ago to striking his mother, Josephine, in the head with a 20-pound barbell
inside the Huntington Circle home they shared on Oct. 17, 2002, according
to The Courier-Post.
He then left their home on his motorcycle
and wandered into Kings Grant in neighboring Evesham, where he spotted
11-year-old Gregory Katsnelson riding his bike.
Pituch told the court during his sentencing
Tuesday (Jan. 4) that he thought the METALLICA song "Ronnie" had been directed
at him. The song tells of a boy who "never laughed, never smiled, talked
alone for miles and miles and miles." [see full story for more]-

H.I.M. |
Blabbermouth reports: H.I.M. frontman Ville
Valo will reportedly record a solo album this year that is expected to

inspired by "country" music and Ville's recent work on APOCALYPTICA's "Bittersweet"
video, and will include the songs "Under the Rose", "Face of God" and "Have
No Fear", which were performed by Valo during a recent live appearance.[see

Kicks The Bucket(head) |
ContactMusic reports: OZZY OSBOURNE has ditched
plans to link up with former GUNS N' ROSES star BUCKETHEAD - because the
guitarist refused to lose his famous look.
The guitarist was called in as Ozzy's possible
latest guitarist for this year's (05) OZZFEST tour, but Osbourne admits
he couldn't persuade the eccentric axeman to ditch his trademark KFC bucket
hat and white facemask - and he refused to call him Buckethead.
Ozzy tells rock magazine REVOLVER, "I met
with him and asked him to work with me but only if he got rid of the f**king
bucket. [see full story for more]- Click

Megafarewell |
Metal-Rules reports: Droogies! While 2005
brought much suffering and sadness to many people at its end, I hope for
most of us here that were separated from such tragedy, that you had a terrific
2004. My heart still goes out to the Abbott family, the families who have
lost loved ones in the ongoing war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and also the
many millions of people around the world that had their family or a friend
touched or worse by the Tsunami.
... Megadeth plans on doing the Euro/UK
tour as you know, then tentatively to Japan and Oz, and hopefully South
America, to be finished with one last victory lap of the states this summer.
Since this is the final year of Megadeth,
it is also fitting to remind you that it has been twenty of the best years
(and hardest) of my life.[see full story for more]- Click

Vehemence
Seek Vocalist |
reports: Vehemence is now in search for a
new vocalist. Longtime vocalist/lyricist Nathan Gearhart has stepped down
due to family obligations, and we now need a powerful frontman to fill
his shoes. He will be missed, but at the same time we are excited to have
some new blood in the band. We are currently looking for someone who will
be fully committed to shows, practices, and tours and must have great stage
presence. We DO NOT want a Nathan clone, and would prefer someone who can
bring something new to our sound. No matter what 'scene' you are from,
if you are an extreme metal vocalist, get in touch! The goal is to expand,
and reach a wider audience with our new vocalist so if you are interested,
please email us at [email protected]- Click

Dahlia Murder Plot new CD Plans |
Metal Blade reports: [Trevor from Black Dahlia
Murder offered this update in the latest Metal Blade newsletter] from The
new album, Miasma, is now halfway written, and completely destroys anything
we've done prior. We are very proud of the new songs, and are sure that
our fans will not be disappointed. The direction of the new s*** is noticeably
heavier and far more intricate than our previous work. The album will be
recorded in a dark scary basement of Richmond, VA, beginning March 10th
with Andreas Magnusson (of Scarlet fame) at the helm. The album will then
be mixed in April with the infamous Eric Rachel at Trax East studios, NJ.
If all goes as planned Miasma will be available in the early summer months.
We'll be out with King Diamond and Nile before the disc drops, kicking
off another year of perpetual touring by your favorite road warriors. [see
