Between
The Buried and Me Side Project |
press release reports: Thomas Giles Rogers,
Jr., frontman for the revolutionary metalcore outfit Between The Buried
And Me, decided to channel some of his creative energy into another project
while preparing to hit the studio with BTBAM. This project, called Giles,
is an amalgamation of Tommys love for electronic music and desire to do
something creative and fresh. Giles can be described as a combination
of electroclash and industrial music written with a metal mindset. Tommy
wrote the self-titled Giles debut album as he wouldve written songs
for Between The Buried And Me, except this time, he wrote and programmed
them on a keyboard. Giles sounds like a hodgepodge of Fischerspooner
meets Diesel Boy meets Mike Patton and was written and produced solely
by Thomas Giles Rogers, Jr.; it was recorded and mixed by Jamie King (also
known for his work with Between The Buried And Me). Always into electronic
music, Tommy wanted to take a chance at writing it and Giles is the end
result.- Click

Slapp
of the Day: Bonehead Label Execs |
[The following is an opinion column. If you
only came here for news or are easily offended by other people's opinions,
then you can skip this] A major label's latest brainstorm in the attempt
a make a bonehead move designed to shoot themselves in the foot didn't
get much play in the media last week. So I figured a slapp was in order.
In fact, I wouldn't have heard about this unless I was given the ultra
fun assignment at my day gig to pull together some news blurbs for our
next issue. And I stumbled upon this story by accident.
Ok get this; Universal Records have decided
to screw themselves out of free exposure to millions of people each month.
Just how did the boneheads in suits at their corporate office decide to
do this? They figured that websites and satellite companies shouldn't be
giving their artists free exposure any longer by showing music videos.
Instead they have decided that this marketing tool should instead be a
revenue tool and they will charge companies for the privilege of giving
their artists free exposure. And your profits are going down why? Wait
it gets even better
