Pearl
Jam Digital |
Vandenberg Communications reports: Beginning
with Pearl Jam's sold out concert at the Gorge in George, Washington on
September 1, the band will begin releasing high quality digital downloads
of their live shows exclusively at www.pearljam.com. The digital downloads
will be available for most of the band's 2005 Canadian and US dates just
hours after each show has ended; they will include special downloadable
artwork and a slideshow specific to each night's show.
Pearl Jam's "digital bootlegs" will be
professionally mixed in real-time at each show by Pearl Jam's longtime
studio and live engineer, Brett Eliason. Eliason's company, Basecamp Productions,
developed the software application that delivers and manages digital downloads.
Pearl Jam has opted to encode the digital files at a higher than standard
bit rate (192k) in an effort to balance manageable file sizes with very
good sound quality. The cost is $9.99 per show. [see full story for more]-

Deny Maiden Incident |
Day in Rock reports: [Bury Your Dead have
issued the following statement after some report said Sharon and Belly
Osbourne got the band to help them in the incident against Iron Maiden
at Ozzfest last summer. Here is the Bury Your Dead's side of the story]
To whom it may concern,
Despite the rumors of August 20th Ozzfest,
Bury Your Dead had nothing to with what transpired during Iron
Maiden's set. Although being asked to be
apart of what took place, we declined out of respect for Iron Maiden
as we are all fans and watched the band
almost every night. I'm sorry to see that people are so quick to
believe what's written on the internet,
and we are confident we will be exonerated.

Vivian
Campbell Solo CD |
press release reports: After a career spent
anchoring some of the most illustrious bands in rock (including the last
13 years with Def Leppard), guitarist Vivian Campbell found himself stealing
away to smoky blues clubs around his adopted home of Los Angeles whenever
he wasn't on tour. Enamored with the roots of his rock, Campbell decided
it was time for a long-overdue history lesson in the music that he had
come to make a career of. The Irish axeman journeyed all the way back to
the music of the deep south, reliving the early days of the blues and emerged
with Two Sides of If, a collection of songs Campbell fell in love with
as he taught himself to live, breathe and love the blues. Admittedly, this
trek is one undertaken by many guitarists, but none who can claim to have
helped influenced Metallica (with his first band, Sweet Savage), helped
launch Ronnie James Dio's post-Sabbath career at just 19, and went on to
spend over a decade with one of the biggest rock bands in the world. In
stores on September 27th (Sanctuary Records), the album is a heartfelt
labor of love from Campbell; a thank you note to the great bluesmen of
the past for laying the groundwork for upstarts like himself.[see full
