While stationed at Camp Pendleton, north of San Diego, in 2004, Dario Ambriz, 23, met the girl online and corresponded with her for about three months via e-mail and instant messages.
On December 10, 2004, Ambriz drove to Santa Maria and had a sexual encounter with the child. He then returned to base.
Several days later, the victim told a friend about the incident, who then reported the disturbing news to the victim's mother. [see full story for more]
