Scorpions: MP3s Killing Music
Blabbermouth reports: SCORPIONS guitarist
Rudolf Schenker recently spoke to the Malay Mail Online about his views
on illegal music downloading and bootlegging.
"People don't really understand," he said. "Piracy is killing the whole music industry and new bands. Why? Because of piracy, record companies don't want to spend any money on good bands that they come across. I mean, no one in their sanest mind would want to take the risk of putting money into a band and wait for three or four years for the band to really get happening.
"Like it or not, record companies are the ones depended on to nurture talents. When there's no talent, you won't get quality music or even artistes. The public have to understand that when you pay peanuts you'll only get monkeys." [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

BRMC Drummer In Question
Billboard reports: Despite rumors to the
contrary, rock act Black Rebel Motorcycle Club has not split up and is
at work on its third studio album, according to bassist/vocalist Robert
Turner. However, drummer Nick Jago's status with BRMC is on shaky ground,
stemming from an argument with guitarist Peter Hayes during the band's
summer European tour.
Turner did not specifically confirm Jago has left the band, and did not address whether he'll be behind the drum kit for future recording sessions. "Nick might take some time off and even play drums in other groups here and there, but the doors always open for him to play with BRMC," he said. Foxx Nails Ray Charles, Give
That Man An Oscar
New York Daily News reports: September
is way too early to declare an Academy Award winner, but the Oscar engraver
would do well to remember the spelling of Taylor Hackford's star in the
biographical drama "Ray."
It's Jamie Foxx, with two Xs.
The talk of the town over the first half of the festival was Foxx. He gives such a complete performance as the late Ray Charles that you almost immediately forget you're watching a performance by anyone other than Charles himself.
Foxx's physical mannerisms and his voice are dead-on, but his performance is much more than an impersonation. He seems to be reliving another man's life, from the inside out. It's a truly remarkable bit of work. "Ray" opens in theaters in the U.S. Oct. 29. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
