Silly News: Hanoi Rocks Vs
Kiss & Motley
Blabbermouth reports: [Band fights are
fun and here is some good clean fun for a Friday! Hanoi Rocks Michael Monroe
goes after Nikki Sixx and Gene Simmons in a recent interview. Blabbermouth
printed quite a bit but here are some excerpts of their excerpt. Hit the
full story link for more fun!] RockUnited.com: Michael, you recently did
an interview with MetalSludge.com and it concerned a lot about (MÖTLEY
CRÜE/BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION bassist) Nikki Sixx
Michael: "It didn't concern about Nikki Sixx, I just merely stated that the only reason I said anything was that they have that stupid album title 'Music To Crash Your Car To', the compilation album"
Andy: "I thought it was rather tacky and tastelessWe all have our right to have an opinion of our own. I thought it was a shameful and tasteless title."
Michael: "I can sum it up in one line: that gave bad taste a bad name. The fact that I described his character as a you know, self-centered or whatever, superficial and pretentious the day after [HANOI ROCKS drummer] Razzle got killed he shows me phone numbers of all these girls that can come and do whatever you like. He was like 'You wanna get laid, man?' and I said 'Are you serious, my best friend just died!' I was never into groupies, but to say that the day after Razzle died, that's just the kind of people they are and there's a lot of people like that in Hollywood and in rock bands. It's embarrassing and I think they're really a no contribution to humanity."
[later in the interview] Michael: "I said that Gene Simmons was that he's the most conceited, fat, chauvinist pig I've ever encountered. He probably has a small weenie problem because he seems to really need to brag about how many thousands of women he's conquered. And he would probably say, 'Thank you Michael.' Cat Stevens Investigation
BBC reports: The decision to include British
singer Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, on a US terrorism "watch
list" is now under review.
"I think we have that obligation to review these matters to see if we are right," said US Secretary of State Colin Powell.
The 57-year-old was refused entry to the US last week. Authorities said it was on national security grounds.
Mr Powell said the review of the case was not because of the publicity surrounding it, saying he undertook reviews, "not only with celebrities such as Mr Stevens, but for the average citizen coming across who gets stopped".
"We want to secure our borders but we want also to make sure that we remain an open nation," he added. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

CIA Reissue
Electric Basement reports: In whetted
anticipation of the forthcoming NUCLEAR ASSAULT studio effort, Screaming
Ferret Wreckords/Escapi Music has delved into the vaults and, on January
4th, is issuing a re-mastered edition of Attitude, the extremely rare sophomore
solo effort by Nuclear Assault's legendary drummer Glenn Evans under the
moniker CIA.
Originally released to limited capacity in 1992, Attitude displays both Glenn's amazing musical prowess, and his humanity. According to Glenn, "The CIA Attitude album was recorded in a period of my life when things were beginning to fall apartmy marriage, Nuclear Assault, and life in general. Everyone has those periods in their life at one time or another. I had a lot of emotions flowing through me and the easiest way to get them out was through music. I was proud of it then, and I'm proud of it now. It never really had a proper release, and this time around it will." Red Hot Bio
press release reports: The Red Hot Chili
Peppers, against all odds, have become one of the most beloved bands in
the world with their own unique brand of cosmic hard-core mayhem funk/punk.
And for more than twenty years, Anthony Kiedis, the group's lyricist and
lead singer, has continually bared his soul in his lyrics and helped drive
the band's outrageous live shows. His ability to write lyrics by tapping
into his most painful experiences while also expressing his views on a
range of social and political issues has resonated with fans and critics
alike for their emotional intensity, openhearted honesty, and pure, raw
power.
But his extraordinary life has been a constant series of dizzying highs and crushing lows, all mired in a decades-long addiction to drugs. Now, in SCAR TISSUE (Hyperion; October 6, 2004; 24.95; Hardcover), Kiedis recounts his remarkable life story in an unflinching, painfully honest memoir. It is the story of a life lived on the razor's edge-at times a dark and emotionally jarring journey into a world of drug abuse, meteoric success, and rock-star decadence that could be told only by a man who has headlined Woodstock and Lollapalooza, and shot speedballs with Mexican gangsters under a bridge in the barrio of Los Angeles. Brilliantly written and remarkably candid, SCAR TISSUE is far beyond a typical rock biography: it is a riveting account of one man's passion for life, for music, and of a lifelong battle against the personal demons that nearly destroyed him. The resulting sound of ALL IN is not a complete departure from previous work, but rather a more developed version of the youthful energy, melodic hooks and quirky-yet-tangible lyrics that defined their style in the past. [see full story for more including tour dates]- Click Here for the Full Story

2 Cents:
C'mon, Get Sappy!
[It's Friday, time for Chuck DiMaria to
give us his 2 Cents. This week Chuck takes a look at VH1's resurrection
of the Partridge Family.]
You want to know why the Partridge family worked? Because of Keith and Laurie, that's why. All the girls wanted Keith, all the guys wanted Laurie.
Because let's face it, Greg Brady came across as kind of a pussy and Marsha Brady was way too high maintenance for my taste.
And the Partridge family had way better songs. I never quite forgave the Brady's for that homage to puberty, "Time to Change".
"I Can Feel Your Heartbeat" blows that song away.
And let's not forget that Shirley Partridge had to raise those kids all by her self. No husband, no housekeeper. And Reuben Kincaid wasn't exactly bending over backwards to help out around the house, now was he? Was that woman a pro-feminist iconoclast or what? (And she had to drive the freakin' tour bus as well.)
And I mentioned Laurie was a hottie, right?
So will someone please explain to me why they ("They" being VH-1) are scouring the face of the Earth to find the "New" Partridge Family? Are you kidding me?
