Because of the holiday, Today's Day in Rock is shorter than usual, so we simply added it to Monday's report (for the online version). We should return to normal on Wednesday, unless the rock world is still too hung over on Tuesday to do anything news worthy.

Guns Says Sixx Didn't Hit
Fan
Blabbermouth reports: BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION
guitarist Tracii Guns has refuted published reports that his B.O.D. bandmate
Nikki Sixx (ex-MÖTLEY CRÜE) knocked a Nevada fan out last Saturday
night (May 22) when he flung his instrument into the crowd and clocked
the guy in the head.
Describing the previously published account of what supposedly transpired that night as a "crock [of] s***," Guns wrote in a posting to the Metal Sludge "Gossip Board" that "Nikki threw his bass to Scott Sorry from AMEN just before he jumped in the crowd to find me. Problem was Nikki jumped right over me into the crowd then I had to jump in to tell him I wasn't in the crowd. Nobody's instrument hit anyone but Scott. The kid ripped his eye-ring out of his eye dodging flying fists and then ended up on the bottom of the pile. In a nice puddle of eye-ring blood. Just another night on the first leg of the tour. Derek Frigo RIP
antiMUSIC reports: Derek Frigo, former
lead guitarist of Enuff Z'nuff was found dead on Friday. The cause of death
is not known at this time. Frigo was reportedly found outside his girlfriend's
Beverly Hills home.
Derek was the son of legendary Chicago violin virtuoso Johnny Frigo. He rose to fame in his own right as the lead guitarist of Enuff Z'nuff on their first three major label albums. Rolling Stone named Enuff Z'nuff best new band in 1991. During his time with the band, Derek was praised for his distinct tremolo infused guitar solos. He left Enuff Z'nuff in 1994 and played in a number of groups since, he latest projects included gigs with his fellow former Enuff Z'nuff bandmate Vik Fox in Los Angeles based rock band Logan's Heroes and playing with punk icon Texas Terri.
Last year, Frigo reunited with Enuff Z'nuff frontman Donnie Vie and original drummer Vik Fox for a couple of Los Angeles area shows. There was talk of an Enuff Z'nuff reunion tour later this year. Derek joined Donnie Vie in his home studio a few weeks ago and laid down tracks for the new Enuff Z'nuff CD.
[Having personally known Derek this news hits extremely hard. If it wasn't for Derek there wouldn't be an antiMUSIC as Enuff Z'nuff inspired our sister site Rocknworld.com, which was named after a song off of the 1993 Enuff Z'nuff album "Animals With Human Intellegence", and was the first site in what would become the antiMUSIC network. The world lost an exceptional person and gifted musician. Derek's sound was a hallmark of those early Enuff Z'nuff albums. This is a tragic blow to the Enuff Z'nuff family. On behalf of everyone here at antiMUSIC, I wish to extend condolences to Derek's family and friends. We will never forget Derek, the man or his music. - Keavin] - Click Here for the Full Story
Radio Station Bans The Vines
antiMUSIC reports: [This press release
is from Triple M radio in Australia and is posted here as a followup to
a story from Friday - see the full story link for all the details] Five
minutes into Thursday nights' Triple M Garage Session performance, The
Vines guitarist Patrick walked off stage and joined the crowd, adding fuel
to the rumour the Vines are on the brink of break up.
A police report has been filed by a Sydney newspaper photographer who says she was kicked during the gig, destroying her camera.
The band stopped half way through many songs with the lead singer screaming at the audience calling them a pack of sheep and telling them to shut up or get out. The intimate crowd of 400 were shocked when asked by the lead singer to "baa" like sheep .
Triple M has held hugely successful Garage Sessions in the past with bands such as The Darkness, The Living End and most recently Jet. It was hoped that the Vines would put on an equally successful show for Triple M listeners.
The station has been inundated by calls and emails from unhappy listeners disappointed by The Vines performance and attitude on the night.
As a result of listener feedback Triple M have dropped all The Vines tracks on their stations' play lists and are awaiting an apology from the band and their management. - Click Here for the Full Story
