Disturbed Confirm Hire
Digital Noise reports: As reported yesterday,
former Union Underground bassist John Moyer has been officially selected
as the replacement bassist for Fuzz.
An official statement regarding Moyer's addition to the line-up was posted at the band's official website, www.disturbed1.com, and reads as follows:
The search for a new bass player is over.
Disturbed have filled the highly coveted bass player position left vacant since the departure of Steve "Fuzz" Kmak last year. After an exhaustive search, John Moyer of Austin, TX has been tapped to hold down the bottom end for the Chicago based hard rockers. Moyer was most recently the bass player in the rock band The Union Underground.
The timing is good for Moyer, as the band is in Chicago writing the follow-up to their platinum selling "Believe", which was released on Reprise in the fall of 2002. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Great White Art Excuse
BW&BK reports: Cleopatra Records'
Art Director/Product Manager Jason Myers has issued BW&BK a statement
in regards to the recent comments made by the GREAT WHITE camp concerning
the upcoming album release, Double Dose, and the artwork used for the album.
Myers states: As the art director for the project, I wanted to set the record straight that the actual CD cover that will hit the stores has no distasteful art. It's simply a shark emerging from blue water.
I know the Navarre distributor's website incorrectly ran old, unapproved art from a previous release that was a few years old. I personally made every attempt to create artwork that was applicable and sensitive to the band's position - (especially after seeing the horrible House Of Burning Love import CD in a local store). - Click Here for the Full Story

MTV Bans Anthrax
BW&BK reports: Yep, you read it right;
ANTHRAX has been banned by MTV. Supposedly, the band's video for 'What
Doesn't Die' was deemed too graphic for the airwaves. Guitarist Scott Ian
tried to explain the "reasoning" behind such a decision via the band's
website:
"The new video for 'What Doesn't Die' was banned by MTV. Originally accepted by Headbanger's Ball, the decision was overridden by Standards & Practices. The scenes in question were the fake zombie on fire, the fake zombie carrying a fake head, and my fake zombie killing scene where I knock the head off of a fake mummy. This is the funniest thing I've heard all year.
I was asked to come up with some captions for possible edits. Here they are in case we don't get to use them:
- This scene does not contain casual sex and or public intoxication, therefore it was deemed unsuitable for viewing. - This scene does not depict an unrealistic lifestyle, nor does it contain any misogynistic acts, therefore it was deemed unsuitable for viewing. - This scene does not depict wanton destruction of property and or sophomoric violence, therefore it was deemed unsuitable for viewing. Randy Rhoads Bio
Blabbermouth reports: Former QUIET RIOT/OZZY
OSBOURNE bassist Rudy Sarzo has revealed that he is currently writing a
book on the Randy Rhoads era, titled "Off The Rails".
"It is very hard to write a book," Sarzo told Classic Rock Revisited. "Whatever money I make from it, I can make a lot more from things that are much easier. I just want everyone to understand what Randy was all about. I was the only guy who played with him in both bands. I was the only one who saw the metamorphosis of Randy going from being a local guitar player to becoming a legend."
Asked why he is sharing his thoughts and feelings now, Sarzo said, " I owe him my career and I believe that I owe him my life. From what I have heard happened right before the crash, I owe him my life.
"[Randy's death] changed everybody. It changed Ozzy. Sharon tells me that he has never been the same again and I know that. It is a very important story..." [see full story for more] - Click Here for the Full Story
Lars Drums Sound an Accident
Blabbermouth reports: METALLICA's Lars
Ulrich recently spoke to the U.K.'s Rhythm magazine about the origins of
the "distinctive" drum sound he achieved on the group's new album, "St.
Anger". "The famous drum sound everybody is talking about," he said. "One
day I forgot to turn the snare on because I wasn't thinking about this
stuff. At the playbacks, I decided I was really liking what I was hearing
it had a different ambience. It sang back to me a in a beautiful way.
It just felt totally natural. The backlash came when some people heard
the album and said, 'You know, heavy metal snares aren't supposed to sound
like that.' Well, I guess I must have skipped over Chapter Three in the
Heavy Metal Rulebook [laughing]. It's crazy, that kind of closed-mindedness."

Stereophonics Backlash
Drowned in Sound reports: Stuart Cable,
the poodle-haired everyman drummer from welsh bloke-rock-band (The) Stereophonics,
has spoken out properly for the first time since he was dumped from the
band last year.
He told reporters: "Kelly had already written the songs, he'd already done some drum machine parts, Richard had put some bass on them, and what was left? Join the dots. Which was cool by me because I'd got to the stage of 'If that's the way it's going to be, so be it.'"
"I thought the record was OK, not a great one. The early stuff was better, especially the first and second albums. And I've been surprised since I left the band, to have people come up to me, people in the business as well as fans, and say the same."
"I thought the Stereophonics music was getting a bit bland. The rock stuff on the last album was few and far between." [see full story for more and some interesting news on V2) - Click Here for the Full Story
