Durst on Bomb Threat
Blabbermouth reports: LIMP BIZKIT frontman
Fred Durst has posted the following message on the band's official web
site:
"Last night we had a serious bomb threat at the venue in Katowice, Poland. Five minutes before we had to go on stage, the chief of policia came into our dressing room with the promoter and told us someone called the police and said to evacuate the building in one hour. The promoter wasn't really concerned at all for anything but his money but the policia said that he could not say if it there was a chance it was or was not going to happen. At that point I made the decision to evacuate the building and announce the problem to the audience.
"The policia and the promoter were very concerned there would be a riot. They actually said it was 100% that the fans would start one. I am glad to say that they were 100% wrong. The fans in Poland were very cool under these circumstances and were very respectful to authorities. We did not know what to think about the whole situation, but we are glad that everyone is safe.
"I am very sorry that happened to all of you in Poland. We will be back. We also have all the video footage of the promoter and chief of policia informing us of the bomb threat. We are working on cutting it together for you asap. [click full story link to read Fred's take on the state of the world =)]- Click Here for the Full Story

Great White Hire A**hole?
Day in Rock reports: Someone forwarded
us this email that reportedly came from Tyler Nelson of the Hollywood band
Judge Jackson. The message claims that Nelson has been hired as the new
guitarist for Great White and made some not so cool statements about late
Great White guitarist Ty Longley who was one of the 100 that lost their
lives in The Station nightclub fire in Feb of last year. At press time
we were unable to confirm if Nelson has been hired by the group (their
official website has not report of this) or if this email in fact originated
from him. But if it did, it may not sit well with fans of the band.
Here is the email that was sent out
I gathered up as many e-mails as possible, at least 2,000 of you crazy rock n' rollers. I am happy to inform everybody that I am the new guitar player for Great White. I'll still be in Judge Jackson, but touring with Great White when they need me. And believe me, I won't be a dumb ass and try to save my guitar if the arena is burning. Make my shows. Thanks. In a related story and follow up to Wed's report about the new guitarist for the group, a source has told the Day in Rock that the GW camp denies that their new guitarist, Tyler Nelson, wrote the email. They said that he does not even have a computer and therefor could not have sent the email above out. - We also received an email from a reported friend of Tyler that says that he did not send out that email.
RIAA Attacked
Jam! reports: The Web site for the recording
industry's anti-piracy lobby has been inaccessible for several days, possibly
the victim of a computer virus specifically targeting the site.
The Recording Industry Association of America's site at riaa.com was among the targets named in the "MyDoom.F" virus, which Internet security firms spotted last month. The site has been down since Wednesday and remained offline Monday.
"We are working on getting it back online," RIAA spokesman Jonathan Lamy said, declining to elaborate. [see full story link for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
Avril Bashes Duff Again
Jam! reports: Avril Lavigne lashed out
at fellow teen queen Hilary Duff and then trashed a photo of herself on
air during an angry interview with a Boston radio station last week.
The Boston Herald reported it was an ever-the-rebel Lavigne who appeared on the MIX 98.5 morning show, firing off when the subject of "goody two-shoes" Duff -- who was not present -- came up.
"You," she said to Duff over the airwaves, "can go screw yourself."
The 19-year-old Napanee native told show host John Lander she has never dissed her fans for adopting her popular but short-lived tie-and-tank look, as Duff is reported to recently have admonished her for doing, saying instead she thinks it's a compliment when they emulate her style. Bass Queens
I Ate Your Microphone reports: The upcoming
fourth album album from Queens Of The Stone Age is expected to include
ten tracks or so when it sees a release later in the year, though sixteen
have been completed at present and the surplus will be surfacing as b-sides.
Frontman Josh Homme has announced his intentions to record the bass parts
himself when recording commences in late April, as he did on their 1998
eponymous debut, which suggests that former bassist Nick Oliveri will not
be replaced anytime soon. [check the full story for a bit from Homme on

Elvis Costello's Pen
Ananova reports: In a statement the publisher
said Costello had "resisted the rewards for writing a traditionally scurrilous
and scandalous biographical memoir". The first book, scheduled for autumn
2005, will be a "series of intimate narrative chapters taking their cue
from the styles, themes and characters found in a number of Costello's
lyrics".
