Puddle of Mudd Dis Durst
Blabbermouth reports: In an interview
with Canada's Chart magazine, PUDDLE OF MUDD frontman Wes Scantlin unleashed
on LIMP BIZKIT frontman Fred Durst. "He doesn't write our songs, he doesn't
produce our songs, he doesn't do anything for us. He doesn't do our videos
anymore. He doesn't do anything for this band," Wes said. He added, "I
don't know what he's doing, I don't know what the guy's like. All I know
is that he's like Mr. Hollywood guy, Mr. Celebrity. Like, 'I don't hang
out with anybody except Hollywood celebrities'. Every single f***ing interview
I've ever f***ing done, I get asked about that f***ing guy. I don't have
anything against him, but I haven't talked to the guy in a f***ing year
and a half. And for me to do interviews all the time and be asked about
this certain individual... People thinks he writes music with me or something.
He does not do that. I just don't get it. We have nothing in common. He
doesn't even call us, he has his assistant call us to congratulate us on
our record. Yeah, that's how pathetic he is."- Click

Cannibalism on Stage?
Blabbermouth reports: Industrial rock
band HELL ON EARTH will attempt to extend their 15 minutes of fame by featuring
"consensual cannibalism" during their Saturday, March 6 performance at
the first annual Sun N' Steel Metalfest in Pinellas Park, FL. Bandleader
Billy Tourtelot was quoted as saying, "I haven't eaten human meat before,
so it will be interesting to see what it tastes like. I understand it is
quite a delicacy in some cultures."
Tourtelot went on to say that they plan to give their fans a chance to taste some of the disturbing cuisine. "We're having an online contest on www.hellonearth.net. The winner will get to play 'food critic for a day' by tasting the human meat during our show followed by his or her commentary to the audience regarding how it tastes." - Click Here for the Full Story

Idol Blast Music Biz
Billboard reports: Randy Jackson is a
hero. And it's not just because the music-industry veteran -- who is a
judge on "American Idol" -- has given a lot of great advice in his Hyperion
book, "What's Up, Dawg? How to Become a Superstar in the Music Business."
He is not afraid to rock the boat by criticizing the music industry, even though he could easily coast on his success.
The industry, Jackson tells Billboard, is "in the toilet" and does not seem to know how to pull itself out of it.
"I think record companies are so out of touch with the public, and that's why the music business is hurting," he says.
"The content is bad: The typical album has only two or three songs that matter. have got to figure out a way to get back in touch with what the public wants.
"What 'Idol' has proved to me is that the public wants the most talented person, no matter what size or color. Most of the people who've gotten far on 'Idol' are people who would never get a deal from record companies." - Click Here for the Full Story
Priest Drummer Gets 8 Years
AP reports: The former drummer for heavy
metal band Judas Priest was jailed Friday for eight years for the attempted
rape of a 17-year-old boy whom he was giving drum lessons.
David Holland was convicted last month of one charge of attempted rape and five counts of indecent assault on the teenager, who has learning difficulties, at the drummer's rural English home in 2002.
Sentencing Holland in Northampton Crown Court, Judge Charles Wide said the drummer had planned the abuse and must never again be allowed to work with children. Holland, 55, denied the charges. - Click Here for the Full Story

New Warrant
Blabbermouth reports: '80s hard rockers
WARRANT have revamped lineup following the departure of singer Jani Lane
last month. Joining original members Erik Turner (guitar), Jerry Dixon
(bass) and Joey Allen (lead guitar) in the new group are BLACK 'N BLUE
singer Jaime St. James (vocals) and drummer Mike Fasano.
"It's been a blast to play the music again," explained returning guitarist Joey Allen. "I haven't played these songs for eight or more years. I am totally comfortable being side-by-side with Jerry and Erik again. It feels like home."
"I've known the guys in WARRANT for many years when they were still playing the Sunset Strip," stated St. James. "We have the same tastes in music and love to rock. I am thrilled to play with my longtime friends." Mike Fasano played in WARRANT from 2001-2003 and returns for 2004. "As soon as I heard that 'The Squealer' was back (a.k.a. Joey Allen), I was in," said Fasano. - Click Here for the Full Story

Tower Resurrection
Billboard reports: Rather than being a
death knell for record stores, Tower Records' bankruptcy proceedings are
being viewed by many in the industry as a new start for the venerable chain.
In fact, Tower could make the fastest emergence from Chapter 11 of any company in the home entertainment software industry in the past 10 years.
Tower's management made a prepackaged Chapter 11 filing Feb. 9 in bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Del. The following day, the court approved most of Tower's first-day motions, including setting a confirmation hearing of the reorganization plan March 15, just 35 days after the filing.
"Overall, was a great day for Tower and a real vote of support for all the work that Tower management has done up to this point," says Michael Bloom, a partner with Philadelphia law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, which is representing the five major music suppliers and six large video vendors. - Click Here for the Full Story
RI Fire Reflections
Billboard reports: One year after the
Rhode Island nightclub fire killed 100 people and injured some 200 others,
its impact continues to resound among those closest to the tragedy and
throughout the live-music industry.
The Feb. 20, 2003, fire at the Station in West Warwick, R.I., nightclub was started by a pyrotechnics display in the early moments of a performance by the band Great White.
The tragedy -- the worst in rock history -- has been devastating to all involved: the families and friends of the dead, the survivors who continue to struggle with physical and mental scars, the community, the band and those who could be held legally accountable for the blaze.
Jack Russell, the lead singer of Great White, says he would not wish the past year on his worst enemy.
"I lost three really close friends and 97 other people -- if I didn't know them by name, I knew their faces," Russell tells Billboard in a rare interview. Among the dead was guitarist Ty Longley. "They were part of our family. My life has been changed forever."
The concert business has also been significantly changed by the fire. Most people in the touring world believe concerts of all types are safer today than they were one year ago. - Click Here for the Full Story
Little Richard Honors
AP reports: Little Richard attended funeral
services for a Georgia musician who helped him get started in the recording
industry and once supplied him with a shirt and a car for a performance
at the Apollo Theatre.
Melvin C. "Percy" Welch offered Little Richard a place in his band in 1952.
"I didn't have clothes," Little Richard recalled Saturday at Welch's funeral in Macon. "My mama had 12 kids. My daddy was a bootlegger, and the boot was empty that day."
Welch, 75, died Feb. 8 of kidney failure. - Click Here for the Full Story
Silly News: No Smoking for
Govinator
Herald Sun reports: CIGAR-smoking Californian
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is converting a courtyard at his office
into an all-weather "smoking plaza" where he can entertain politicians
and other powerbrokers.
Schwarzenegger makes no secret of his appreciation of an expensive cigar, twice appearing on the cover of Cigar Aficionado magazine since he was elected in November.
Anti-tobacco protesters outside the Capitol building in Sacramento yesterday slammed the former movie action man.
Protesters said Schwarzenegger was undermining California's efforts to cut tobacco use and its health and financial costs. - Click Here for the Full Story

Nu Metal Not For Tesla

his dislike for some modern metal bands, "The Godsmacks and Disturbeds.
They are just a little bit sterile. Something about Godsmack is too tight
and not... it's just too f***in' tight. It doesn't get me off. The music
is way too [regimented]. It sucks out the feeling out for me." Yet he holds
