RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser to Apple CEO Steve Jobs a tactical alliance
was purposed to combine forces against Microsoft¹s dominant Windows
Media Player.
Real's move is odd because the company has the only media player, RealPlayer 10, to support a majority of the media formats currently available. Glaser is also known to have dismissed Apple's iTunes Music Store in the past. However, Real is six months to a year away from rolling out their European subscription based music service, Rhapsody, while iTunes is expected to enter the market shortly. - Click Here for the Full Story
Anselmo Lashes Out
siN's metal news reports: A media storm
has hit in regards to the recent report published here at SMNnews from
an attendee at a SUPERJOINT RITUAL show that took place in Springfield,
MO. The report from the show, which SMNnews learned of through fans, quoted
Philip Anselmo talking about BLACK SABBATH joining the bill and supposedly
stating "We'll [SUPERJOINT RITUAL] be the only band this year bringing
you true heavy f***ing metal" (On OZZFEST 2004).
This aforementioned statement at the show was in fact prefaced by praise for those stalwart "Metal Gods" which stand at the top of the billing on this years OZZFEST 2004 - In no way was it reported to be derrogatory, nor slanderous in any manner what-so-ever. ... Philip Anselmo has posted an update on the bands official website, it is as follows:
"This is the most infamous Philip H. Anselmo, writing to you f***s on the computer. Just to clear things up, a few hilariously dick headed (what else?) supposed "truths" out there, about me, the 'zodiac' of music--->-catch me if you can!---> First off, the comment on blabbermouth, about me supposedly saying in my most arrogant spit: "we will be the only true heavy metal band on ozzfest!"
Not only is this THE most asinine comment ever faked, but to even begin to pat yourself on the back when there's bands like SLAYER, JUDAS H. goddamnmutherf***ing PRIEST, and THE undisputed bad ass BLACK SABBATH!!! Not to mention Dimmu as well as the more well thought our, more abrasive 2nd stage. Not only did I get misquoted, it was treachery. Thanks." Reuters reports: Black Rebel Motorcycle
Club has severed its ties with Virgin Records, which released the group's
two studio albums.
"We've been fighting to get out of our record contract for the last six months and are sorry we couldn't tell anyone about this," bassist Robert Turner wrote to fans on the band's E-mail list, "but it was a very delicate thing that we didn't ever want to become ugly."
A label spokesperson was unavailable for comment. The move comes on the heels of the recent announcement that the trio will join the lineup for this summer's Lollapalooza tour. BRMC is in the midst of a U.S. tour with the Rapture.
"As a lot of people know being off a major record label can be crippling to tours and band's can lose all tour support and funding," Turner said. "But we never had tour support anyway and we've always found ways to get by, so we'll see you soon." - Click Here for the Full Story
