Courtney Love Song Rip-off?
MSNBC reports: Is Courtney Love a rip-off
artist?
...A radio producer is saying that he helped write a single from her new CD, "America's Sweetheart" and she didn't give him credit for his work.
Rich Shertenlieb, a producer on the syndicated show Kidd Kraddick In the Morning, is telling people that two years ago, when he was a DJ in Atlanta, Love came in with the lyrics and some music to a song. Shertenlieb is also a musician, and the two of them finished the song together.
He claims he was stunned when he later heard the song as the new single, "Hold On To Me," without any credit given to him. "There were plenty of witnesses and much of it was taped," says a source. "Lawyers have been brought in." - Click Here for the Full Story

Peter Criss Vs. Gene Simmons
Blabbermouth reports: Former KISS drummer
Peter Criss has slammed KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons over his allegations
that Criss' drug and alcohol abuse is the reason Criss is no longer a touring
member of the group.
Writing to his official web site, PeterCriss.net, Criss said: "Some people love hearing themselves talk, Gene Simmons is one of them. I read online what he said to the Iowa and German press. Now let me tell you what's really important. I have never been so happy in my whole life. I can finally be free to be an artist again.
"I surround myself with people who love me and respect me. My endearing and supporting wife Gigi, true friends, and a loving family, and always God. If not for him there would be nothing. These are things that make me a rich man, Mr. Simmons.
"I sang and drummed my heart out on the AEROSMITH tour, FACT. The really fans know that, END OF STORY. And I also missed Ace on the tour.
"I am in excellent health, wealthy and working on being wiser. I just wanted you fans to know that. I won't even comment on what Mr. Simmons had to say, because it's NOT TRUE, and I don't need to justify his lies.- Click Here for the Full Story

Layne Staley Remembered
MTV reports: Surely it's just a coincidence,
but it's worthy of mention: On April 5, 2002, exactly eight years after
Kurt Cobain killed himself, another tragedy hit the Seattle music scene.
After years of drug abuse, Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley fatally overdosed on a combination of heroin and cocaine at the age of 34. But where Cobain's death was met with a massive public outpouring of grief, Staley's was greeted with a general shrug of indifference and a complete lack of surprise. His band had been inactive for so long, and he'd been written off by so many, that it almost seemed like he'd already died. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Hoobawhat?
Net Music Countdown reports: One of Hobastank's
favorite pastimes is inventing stories to explain their made-up name. One
such yarn involves a drunk at a ball game, standing up and slurring, "Man!
Who butt stank!?"
As lead singer Doug Rob explains, it's all a bunch of hooey. "The first year we were out we probably gave out a hundred different answers to that question to have fun with it. We try not to take ourselves too seriously. But really, the name doesn't mean anything to us other than it being the title of the band." - Click Here for the Full Story
Love Case Moves On
Ananonva reports: A motion to suppress
drugs evidence in the case against rocker Courtney Love has been rejected.
Had Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg upheld the motion, prosecutors would not have been able to introduce key evidence - including urine samples and some of Love's statements - into evidence at the trial, set for April 16.
"It would have killed our case," said Assistant City Attorney Jerry Baik after the hearing. "This was a vital ruling." - Click Here for the Full Story
In related news - it only took Love's solo debut "American Sweetheart" one month to drop out of the Billboard Top 200. To date the CD has sold less than 70,000 copies. Half of what Kelly Osbourne sold. Could it be that Courtney's 15 minutes of shame are almost up?

Neon W.A.S.P.
press release reports: W.A.S.P. The name
is legend, having become associated with such controversial and mind numbing
releases as The Headless Children, The Crimson Idol, K.F.D., Unholy Terror,
and the notorious self-titled debut. April 20, 2004 will see the band evolve
further with The Neon God: Part One The Rise, a conceptual rock opera
that explores the tragedy and consequences of one boy's search for acceptance
and purpose in his existence.
Opening with the line, "Oh tell me my lord, why am I here?" The Neon God delves into such deeply emotional (and personal) inquiries, such as where does one fit into the great cosmic enigma? How does love fit into the equation? Should I use my gifts and talents for good or for evil? These are the primary thoughts all people have regarding their existence at one time or another. When addressed by a youth and coupled with an extreme dose of fear, a lethal combination develops.
Part One The Rise tells the story of an abused and orphaned boy who finds that he has the ability to read and manipulate people. By utilizing his gifts, he is able to build a following whose devotion and allegiance create a loyalty so intense that he is poised to become a dark Messiah for the 21st Century.
Part 2 of The Neon God story will be released by Sanctuary/Metal-Is Records over the summer and will complete the awe-inspiring and jaw dropping story.- Click Here for the Full Story
