[April Fool's? Dateline does have a special planned but the promo says nothing about Courtney at presstime. It talks about an interview with the authors of a controversial book. ]- Click Here for the Full Story

Lars: Cobain No Fan of GNR
Blabbermouth reports: On the eve of the 10-year anniversary of Kurt Cobain's passing, NME.com has posted a short testimonial to NIRVANA penned by METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich. It reads as follows:

"In 1991 there was a kind of shift in rock music in America it was shifting away from all the hair bands in L.A. And with Kurt Cobain you felt you were connecting to the real person, not to a perception of who he was you were not connecting to an image or a manufactured cut-out. You felt that between you and him there was nothing it was heart-to-heart. There are very few people who have that ability.

"I never met him but our guitarist Kirk Hammett had a relationship with him. We were doing this tour with GUNS N' ROSES in the US in 1992 and we wanted NIRVANA to come out and join us. Kirk asked Kurt, but while Cobain said he would play with METALLICA anywhere in the world, at any time, on any stage, he would not step up on the same stage as GUNS N' ROSES obviously he felt that Axl was the antithesis to what he was.

"As I said, I never met Kurt, and he's probably the only guy in rock'n'roll that I have never met that I really wanted to other than Bon Scott maybe. What a sad thing we can't hear the fourth NIRVANA album. It would have been so great to be able to see how that would have evolved." - Click Here for the Full Story

Slipknot Swagless
MTV reports: A U.S. district court judge in Florida has issued Slipknot a court order that temporarily bans them from selling their own hats and T-shirts on the Jägermeister Tour. The band was sued by San Francisco merchandising company Signature Network, which has a licensing deal with Jäger to sell hats, T-shirts and other band-related items on the tour. Tears For Cures
Ananona reports: A former manager of 80s chart-toppers Tears For Fears is facing jail for siphoning off a fortune meant for a miracle sober-you-up cure.

Paul King, 52, promised his business partners he would use his music industry contacts to help raise money to market the volcanic ash preparation.

Instead, he pocketed £458,000 of investors' cash which could have seen the revolutionary product - originally discovered by drunken Chechen rebels - becoming a "big success" in Britain.

King, who tried to hide his dishonesty behind claims of sloppy accounting, was convicted at London's Southwark Crown Court of one count of fraudulent trading between August 20, 2000, and July 5, 2002.

He was remanded on bail for pre-sentence reports until May 7. [see full story for more] - Click Here for the Full Story

Taking Back The Lama
Victory Records reports: When Taking Back Sunday completed their fall tour with Saves The Day, there were high fives all around. After they bid farewell to their tight bro's, they began to look to the future. The obvious next step was to have their bodies cryogenically frozen and genetic doubling completed, so that they could move on to phrase three. The men of Taking Back Sunday emerged from their pods refreshed, with a new sense of purpose. Secure in the knowledge that should mid-air disaster occur, their cryogenic replacements would march to the fore, they boarded a plane bound for Bombay. Once on the ground in the ancient city, Taking Back Sunday made a beeline for the hottest producer/re-mixer/lifestyle coach of the moment. Of course, you guess correctly, the Dali Lama himself. As spiritual as he is fresh, the DL brings mad beats and lessons of karmic balance to Taking Back Sunday. Despite his vow to change the band completely and alienate their entire fanbase, the new songs are said to be both spiritual and hard partying. With great joy, the band announces that the new record will be in your presence in July, 2004.- Click Here for the Full Story

GNR Go Mallcore?
BW&BK reports: According to a posting on Roadrunner UK's website, they have inked a deal with GUNS N' ROSES!? Here's the full posting:

"Roadrunner Records are pleased to announce the signing of the almighty Guns N' Roses. World famous, and indeed a household name, Guns N' Roses have sold millions of records across their many year career and we are extremely proud to have them as part of the Roadrunner family! The recent, widely reported, legal dispute with Universal has been resolved in an undisclosed out of court settlement. The first release under the new deal will be the very long awaited Chinese Democracy - currently penciled in for a Christmas 2004 release, allowing the band time to replace ex-member Buckethead, and finalize work in the studio. Several cover art concepts are already being discussed, and a new photo shoot is planned for early Summer. Office staff here are already dribbling in anticipation of hearing the new tunes. Official touring plans for the UK are not yet confirmed, but the headline slot of a much enlarged Roadrage 2005 tour is under discussion."- Click Here for the Full Story

Korn Change Name
I Ate Your Microphone reports: Recent reports indicate that as a result of the dying nü metal scene, one of it's founding bodies KoRn have mutually decided within the group that a name change is in order, as a misspelt miscapitalized moniker apparently no longer makes them the coolest kids in town. The band will hereafter be known as Corn; posters advertising their planned appearance on the upcoming Projekt Revolution trek are currently being reworked. - Click Here for the Full Story

Digital Noise Shutdown by RIAA
If you tried to surf to the Digital Noise Network on Thursday you were greeted with a screen that announced the site was shutdown by the FBI and the RIAA for illegal distribution of music. It was a hoax and the real site came up after a minute. But they did a good job in making it look official with contact info to the RIAA anti-piracy department and FBI and RIAA logos etc.- Click Here for the Full Story

Slayer Dump Ozzy
siN's metal news reports: Sources close to RMN have informed us that SLAYER has dropped off of Ozzfest, only to be replaced by tIN FLAMES.

*UPDATE* Hey guys it's TUFFKid here with an exclusive update for you!!

Kerry King has made an update with the following message:

"I regretfully have to announce that SLAYER will be dropping off this years Ozzfest. The stress and heart-ache of putting on my own clothing line, KFK Industries, has become increasingly difficult, and has required more work than initially thought. With this, me and Tom, who will now be the companys internal design manager, have decided to pull SLAYER off this years Ozzfest tour.

The good news is now we can start production on the new clothing line as a full-time job now. I have hired some other participants in the metal scene to help with production and ideas. MORTIIS (picture) has been hired on to head the makeup department whie Dani Filth (picture, CRADLE OF FILTH) and Lord Ahriman (picture 1, picture 2, DARK FUNERAL) will take over all spandex, fishnet and face paint operations. More big name announcements will come soon. - Click Here for the Full Story

they had a hell of day over at siN's with their emo alter-egos taking over. This was one of the funniest stories.

Then the drama played out with the reporter that posted these comments was fired, but he then went and killed the editor. Of course they did announce this year's "Summer Sanitarium" tour lineup and it didn't seem too far fetched. See the full story link to read all the insanity. - Click Here for the Full Story
