Korn Do The Clubs?
From Arenas to Clubs that's the latest in the Korn tour related rumor department.

siN's metal news reports: Rumors have been circulating around about KORN doing a club tour with the band DROID. We, some of the dates and cities that we've heard about haven't been correct, but we do have our first confirmed date, city and venue for you. It is for November 24th in Philadelphia, PA at the Electric Factory.

More to come as they are confirmed by either the band, ticketmaster, pollstar or the venue website.

Strange happenings indeed, maybe they had to move to smaller venues because people were stealing the arena tickets off the internet?

Life After Pantera
Blabbermouth reports: The band formerly known as NEW FOUND POWER, which features in its ranks guitarist Dimebag Darrell (ex-PANTERA), Dimebag's drummer brother Vinnie Paul (ex-PANTERA), DIESEL MACHINE/ex-HALFORD guitarist Patrick Lachman (on vocals) and ex-JERRY CANTRELL guitarist Shawn Matthews (on bass), will be releasing their debut album through Elektra Records in January. "[NEW FOUND POWER] was a working title, and the official [band] name will be announced shortly," Lachman revealed in a recent e-mail.

Musically, the material "picks up where PANTERA left off and there is a lot more depth and dynamics to it," Patrick explained. "Vocals are everything from brutal to just pure melodic hook, but no falsetto."

As previously reported, the much-anticipated effort will include a guest appearance by SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor in a track called "f*** You". OZZY OSBOURNE/BLACK LABEL SOCIETY axeman Zakk Wylde is also said to have contributed backing vocals and a guitar solo to the album.

Nothing New From GNR
Blabbermouth reports: GUNS N' ROSES' forthcoming DVD editions of the 1998 home video "Welcome to the Videos", plus the separate 1992 home videos "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II: World Tour - 1992 in Tokyo" will include no bonus features not available on the original VHS releases, according to Billboard.com.

Due on October 28 through Geffen, "Welcome to the Videos" rounds up clips for such favorites as "Welcome to the Jungle", "Sweet Child O' Mine", "Patience", "Don't Cry" and GNR's cover of WINGS' "Live and Let Die". The "Use Your Illusion" videos chronicle Tokyo performances from the tour in support of the two-part 1991 album of the same name, which debuted on the same day at No. 1 and 2 on The Billboard 200.- Click Here for the Full Story

News date 2164: Archeologists today found the rare never released "Chinese Democracy" recordings from the 20th century band Guns N' Roses. There were over 3000 songs found, which were recorded over a 35 year period by one Axl Rose who died from a bizarre Botox accident and a lineup of over 1300 musicians. This discovery comes 100 years after China found democracy.

Bono Cool With Sinatra Cover
Undercover reports: According to press reports originating out of the U.K., U2's Bono is in the process of taking legal action against Nancy Sinatra for the unauthorized recording of one of his songs. The reports are rubbish.

Bono has issued a statement through his management company Principle Management to advise he has given the project his full support.

"Contrary to recent press reports Principle Management wishes to make clear that neither Bono nor U2 are suing Nancy Sinatra over her use of their song Two Shots Of Happy One Shot Of Sad. There is no truth whatsoever in the story" the statement reads. "U2 had hoped that Frank Sinatra would one day cover the song which they released as a b-side in December 1997. The track has now been covered by Nancy Sinatra with U2's full knowledge and will appear on her forthcoming album. Any press quotes attributed to U2's manager Paul McGuinness on this matter are untrue"..- Click Here for the Full Story

Blink Gets Artsy
Punkband.com reports: An art project is the way Blink-182 envisioned their fourth major-label studio album, which will be untitled, not called Use Your Erection I and II, as was once tossed around. If the album, due November 18, did have a title, perhaps Take Your Time and Polish It would be fitting. Ditching the typical recording process of writing and demoing several songs and recording them in a studio one instrument at a time, Blink-182 moved into a house and approached each song together.

The untitled album will feature 14 tracks, along with a bonus DVD containing six new videos "Feeling This" plus five by director Scandalous and footage from Blink-182's August performance for troops in the Middle East.

Blink-182's untitled album track list, according to Geffen Records:
"Feeling This"
"Obvious"
"I Miss You"
"Violence"
"Stockholm Syndrome"
"Down"
"The Fallen Interlude"
"Go"
"Asthenia"
"Always"
"Easy Target"
"All of This"
"Here's Your Letter"
"I'm Lost Without You"

DVD:
"Feeling This"
"Obvious"
"Down"
"The Fallen Interlude"
"Violence"

Will it be real artsy? Or will their version of artsy be similar to their version of punk?

Slipknot Clown Goes Soft
Metal Underground reports: To My Surprise is the latest side project from a Slipknot member. For those who haven't been following hard rock for the last five years, Slipknot is one of the most extreme and aggressive popular rock bands today: nine men from Des Moines who dress in jumpsuits and scary masks and grind out aggressive, mostly tuneless new-metal.

The moment that the self-titled debut CD from To My Surprise wins the listener over is when the guitar solo kicks in on the first track, "The World's Too Small." This is chiefly because it is not played on an instrument, but is sung with nonsense words like "bwaaa bwa bwa." Beyond that, the song is a quirky alternative-rock hit-to-be in the tradition of bands like Cake, the Presidents of the United States of America and Harvey Danger.

It may come as a bombshell to anyone who listens to this eclectic album that To My Surprise is the latest side project from a Slipknot member. For those who haven't been following hard rock for the last five years, Slipknot is one of the most extreme and aggressive popular rock bands today: nine men from Des Moines who dress in jumpsuits and scary masks and grind out aggressive, mostly tuneless new-metal. A masked band releasing a bunch of solo albums; wonder where they got that idea from? In  all seriousness, this CD is supposed to be pretty good.

Bizkit Fall Further
Blabbermouth reports: LIMP BIZKIT will land at No. 11 on next week's The Billboard 200 chart after shifting 78,000 copies of their fourth album, "Results May Vary", in its third week of release, for a total sales-tally of 530,000 roughly one half of the first-week figure of their previous album, "Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water", back in October 2000. The Florida-bred band's second full-length effort, "Significant Other", sold 635,000 copies during its first week of release in June 1999.

In other chart news, STATIC-X moved 48,418 copies of their newest CD, "Shadow Zone" (No. 20), in its first week slightly over half of the first-week tally of its predecessor, 2001's "Machine". Meanwhile, SEVENDUST sold a respectable 67,808 copies of their fourth album, "Seasons", to land at No. 14 on The Billboard 200.- Click Here for the Full Story

The 35-year-old singer said in court documents filed Tuesday that he's divorcing Mary Weiland, with whom he has two children, because of irreconcilable differences. The couple has a prenuptial agreement.

The two married in May 2000 and separated in September 2002. Mary Weiland filed for divorce after their separation, but dropped the matter in August.

Pink-slips at Universal
Reuters reports: Universal Music, the world's largest record company, will cut a total of 1,350 jobs in a restructuring aimed at saving $200 million a year in response to the protracted slump in music sales, a company representative said on Wednesday.

The restructuring at Universal Music, which controls nearly 30 percent of the U.S. music market, is the latest sign of a crisis in the record industry, which blames a three-year slump in sales on Internet song-swapping and home CD-burning.

Universal began trimming its payroll earlier this year, eliminating about 550 positions around the world. But it plans to cut another 800 jobs, including 190 in North America, between this week and early 2004. .- Click Here for the Full Story

Random data.. RIAA figures for sales: 1997 = 9915.1 million, 1998 = 11416 million,  1999 = 12,816 million, 2000 = 13,214.5 million,  2001 = 12909.4 million, 2002 = 12044.1 million So their sales increased with the advent of the mp3 but mysteriously declined during a recession.  One interesting fact to note the number of titles released by RIAA members dropped by approx 10,000 between 1999 and 2001.  Less supply = less demand?

From Kyle (via fan speak)
I don't think Antimusic understands when RS calls somebody Rock. Missy Elliot is not  rock. But she rocks, in the sense that she's cool. I personally don't think BS or Missy Elliot rock. But they mean "rock" as in they are cool.

Response: That explains it! So that Britney / Christina etc. special cover issue should have really been called the "Women in Cool"? I understand that connotation (eg that rocks!) but even if that is the case with RS, it is at minimum misleading and most ridiculous. Then again they think Missy Elliot is one of the most important artists out today gag, gag, cough, cough.. music is in a sad state if that is the case.

hey yo kev! when u give those quotes at the bottom after every article, mebbe u can give us the meaning as well or mebbe where it has been taken from, with all due respect to ur  creative bent of mind.

Response: What comments? (Breath deep the gathering gloom, watch lights fade from every room)  I could Zack, but that would take all the fun out of it. The quotes started as an inside joke but are now pretty much expected along with the silly comments directed specifically at the story.  Think of it as a cyber scavenger hunt, were you'll have to find out where the quotes come from.  Either that or accept that I have a rare form of Journalist Tourette Syndrome.
