Punkers
Riot In Canada
antiMUSIC reader
Milhouse sent this one in and was kind enough to translate it for us.
Cyberpresse and Canadian Press reports: Montreal - Cancellation of a punk concert caused a riot Tuesday night in downtown Montreal.
Hundreds of furious fans turned over and put to fire about 10 cars in front of Le Medley bar, at the corner of Saint-Denis street and René-Lévesque boulevard.
They also shattered the windows of the bar and nearby shops. Anti-riot squad and Montreal firefighters were called to control the situation
The show headliners were Total Chaos and The Exploited. The show could have been cancelled because some members were denied entry to Canada.
Le Medley security agents and a policeman were hurt during vandal acts. Shops Archambault and Jacob, on the Sainte-Catherine Street, among others, were targeted by the rioters.
The René-Lévesque boulevard was completely closed in the area.

Ozzy
Cancels Again
Blabbermouth reports:
OZZY OSBOURNE has been forced to postpone a six-week string of European
tour dates set to begin next week due to side effects of medication he
was taking to control a tremor, MTV.com reports.
Osbourne's personal physician, Dr. Allan H. Ropper, chief of neurology at Caritas St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, had been treating the singer for the condition in Boston and advised him to postpone the dates.
"Ozzy Osbourne does not have Parkinson's Disease," Dr. Ropper said in a statement. "However, he does have a tremor which is coming under control with medication. Unfortunately, one of the side effects of the medication is dry mouth, which greatly impairs the voice. This problem usually subsides after three to four weeks, but the downside is that this will definitely affect Mr. Osbourne's ability to sing at this time."
The 21-show European tour was to begin October 22 in Dublin, Ireland, and run through December 5 in Munich, Germany. The dates, rescheduled after a previous cancellation, are expected to be made up early next year.
In a statement released Tuesday (October 14), the singer said his worsening tremor was "practically destroying my life along with my self-esteem." He also expressed gratitude to his doctor and said he was glad to be home with his family, recovering.
"I feel like I keep letting you all down, which breaks my heart," his statement continued, "but you have my word that I will be over in the new year to complete my European tour." - Click Here for the Full Story

Incubus
Poetry?
MTV report: Following
in the footsteps of fellow rockers from Paul McCartney to Marilyn Manson,
Brandon Boyd has decided to reveal the fruits of his other passion, art.
However, rather than host an exhibit, like Manson did last fall, the Incubus singer is releasing a book of his work next month.
"There's a little bit of poetry, but it's not a poetry book, it's an art book," Boyd said. "It's a visual piece. Most of it is sketchbook drawings from the past eight years. Most of the content is stuff from being on tour."
Boyd will sell the book, titled "White Fluffy Clouds" after a name he gave one of his sketchbooks, on a Web site he's launching later this week at www.brandonboyd.com.

No Doubt
Reuters reports:
Interscope has penciled in a Nov. 25 release for a bonanza of No Doubt
items.
The southern California pop group will issue "Singles 1992-2003," augmented with a cover of Talk Talk's "It's My Life"; the "Rock Steady Live" DVD; and a limited-edition four-disc boxed set dubbed "Boom Box." A video for "It's My Life" has been shot by famed photographer David LaChapelle.
"Singles" does not run in chronological order, as it opens with No Doubt's 1995 breakthrough single "Just a Girl" and closes with "Trapped in a Box," drawn from its self-titled 1992 debut. The set naturally includes the group's three biggest hits: "Don't Speak" (the first album cut to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart, 1996), "Underneath It All" featuring Lady Saw (No. 3 Hot 100, 2002) and "Hey Baby" (No. 5 Hot 100, 2002).
"Rock Steady Live" was taped last year at the Long Beach (Calif.) Arena, and sports 21 songs in total plus interviews and behind-the-scenes footage.
Of perhaps most interest to collectors is "Boom Box," which gathers "Singles," a DVD of the 1997 VHS release "Live in the Tragic Kingdom, "a DVD of 15 music videos and a disc of 17 B-sides, rarities and remixes. Click Here for the Full Story

REM
Resurrect Kaufmann
Undercover reports:
A bitter battle had broken out between Tony Clifton and R.E.M. with Clifton
accusing the band of "riding my coattails to get places".
Clifton claimed he was the star attraction at a sold-out Hollywood Bowl concert, not R.E.M.
"Let's get one thing straight. It was my concert. That "sold out" audience came to see ME. Rem used my name to pack the joint, just like that bastard Andy Kaufman did years ago" Clifton told remhq.com, the band's official website.
For those in the know, Clifton was the fictitious character originally portrayed by the late Andy Kaufmann, star of the 70s hit TV series Taxi. Michael Stipe's production company backed the movie about the life of Kaufmann titled 'Man On The Moon'.
The part of Kaufmann / Clifton in the movie was played by Jim Carrey who is thought to have been dressed up as Clifton for the Hollywood Bowl show, but who really knows.
In the interview at remhq, Clifton refers to R.E.M. as his "support act" and Michael Stipe as "the thin bald guy". He even suggests to Stipe that he should get a toupee. .- Click Here for the Full Story

A Very
Marley DVD
This is out already but the press release
was just sent to us. Better late. you know the rest.
Trojan Records, in association with Sanctuary Records, will release a live concert DVD culled from two concerts performed by Bob Marley & the Wailers in late 1979. In stores October 7th, Bob Marley & The Wailers: The Legend Live features the last concert footage taken of Marley before his death in 1981.
Filmed in November 1979 at the Santa Barbara
County Bowl in Santa Barbara, CA, the DVD also includes seven songs recorded
a few days later at The Roxy nightclub in Los Angeles as well as a previously
unreleased documentary, Prophecies & Messages, centered around a backstage
interview with Marley.
Bob Marley & The Wailers: The Legend
Live is a stunning record of Bob Marley's captivating performance style,
tempered with his strong political messages. Every song is met with
euphoric response from the Santa Barbara audience, but the show turns spellbinding
as night falls and the group bursts into the epic "Exodus." By the time
the concert concludes with the militant "Get Up Stand Up," the entire auditorium
is swaying along and mouthing the repeated lines of Cos I never give up
the fight,' a defiant statement that brings the mesmerizing concert to
a powerful close.
The Santa Barbara concert was originally
released in VHS format in the early 1980s, but has long since been out
of print. With remastered picture and audio, the original 70-minute
version has been extended for this DVD by guest editor Don Letts to include
an additional 7 songs not featured in the original VHS release. The
bonus footage was shot a few nights later at the famed Roxy nightclub in
Los Angeles, where the band performed at a fundraiser hosted by "Sugar"
Ray Leonard. Also included as a DVD extra is another gem from the
Trojan vaults: an archive documentary entitled Prophecies & Messages.
Running at approximately 51 minutes, this includes 30 minutes of previously
unseen interview footage with Marley and the Wailer's keyboard player Tyrone
Downie
discussing Rastafarianism.
