The Revolution's current lineup includes the Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, BrownMark, Dr. Fink, and Bobby Z. Dez Dickerson and Andre Cymone are listed as special guests for both performances.
"With profound loss and apocalyptic grief, we, along with the world, mourned Prince upon the news of his passing. After seeing the response outside of First Avenue and around the rest of the world's monuments, we, as The Revolution... have decided to pay tribute to Prince at home in the city of Minneapolis." The album sees the Wilson sisters delivering new songs and updated versions of some of their favorite tunes from their catalog, including "City's Burning", "Down On Me," and "Sweet Darlin'".
"Those songs may have fallen through the cracks, in a way, because of where radio was at the time when they were first released," explains Ann Wilson. "Rediscovering those songs, I found ways they emotionally still speak to me."
"There is really a seventies feel to this record both in the sound, and the way we got to the emotional core of each song," adds Nancy. "We picked songs that we always wanted to re-do, plus we've added three new tracks. On both new and old, we have the band playing together the way we used to. This is classic Heart." However, Frances Bean is claiming that she never gave him Kurt's MTV Unplugged acoustic guitar. Frances' mother Courtney thinks that her family will win the guitar back in court, because it's a "treasured heirloom."
Love also added she is really happy that her daughter is out of "this very dangerous and toxic relationship." Check out the video of Courtney Love here.
That's because Chesney struck up a creative friendship with Pink and he invited her to duet on one of his songs. As a result, Chesney's upcoming album Some Town Somewhere won't be available until October 28th.
After hearing one of the songs he intended to include on the album, "Setting the World On Fire," Chesney felt it lacked a certain something. He decided it needed a female voice, and turned naturally to his burgeoning friendship with Pink.
"Pink's voice holds so many feelings all at the same time: joy, desire, a bit of toughness, a little hurt," he said of the pop star in a press release. "She's an incredible singer - and has this great tone that shines but has a little wear to it, but doesn't sound beat up. So I called her."
He added, "The thing about Pink, beyond what a great singer she is, is what a generous spirit she has. To me, great singers are the ones who can get inside a song and capture the spark. When you hear Pink on this song, you believe her-and to me, that's everything the song required to come to life." Read more here.
The video for "First Day Out tha Feds" features Mane trading the big house for his mansion. Life in the slammer is no cakewalk, but Gucci wants us all to witness his return to decadent hip-hop form. He's back to tossing money around.
When Mane got out of prison, conspiracies swirled that the real Gucci had been replaced by a "government-engineered clone." In the video, Mane takes those accusations in stride by featuring duplicates of himself in the same room. Watch Mane's new video here.
Bassist Tim King says of the tour: "This time we wanted to tap into some cities that have been asking us to play over the years and we haven't gone to before. We are looking forward to seeing some new places and making some new friends this time around."
Soil frontman Ryan McCombs adds: "Every time we get home from a UK and European tour, I'm ready to go back. It feels like it's been way to long since we've gotten to spend time with our UK and European Soil family.
"I need to find me a place to hide in York, England - my favorite city - so I can just stay there after this next tour wraps up." See the dates here.
He says on Twitter: "It's strange to think that this time last year I'd only slept six hours this week. I was halfway through 12 weeks of insomnia and general anxiety disorder.
"After suffering from exhaustion I had the nastiest panic attack of my life and I was hospitalized, forcing us to cancel our Download warm-up show. At its worst, some mornings after failing to sleep at all once more, I'd get up feeling utterly distraught and just burst into tears - and the months that followed became some of the most strange and difficult of my life."
Reynolds continues: "I don't remember Download festival at all. I was a shell of a man surviving on adrenaline. Even had vitamin shots to the arse. I've never felt further from the little cockpit of one's mind. I felt detached, inept and scared." Read more here.
It marks the band's first release since 2014's Z2 double album, and mainman Townsend previously said it would bridge the gap between that record and his upcoming symphonic project.
Townsend said: "Transcendence, like every record I've done prior, is an extension of what's been going on in my world, represented in a new batch of songs. I'm 44 years old now, and this is where I have been over the past two years since Z2.
"The result of this process is a record that I truly think the intention of is special. I found gas to put into the tank and am glad I did.
"I think the intention, the theme, and the participation of everyone involved allows this album to act like a fulcrum between the past few years and what I intend to do next with the symphony. I am very proud of it and everyone involved."
Townsend will be joined onstage by Dave Young, Mike St-Jean, Ryan Van Poederooyen and Brian Waddel. See the dates here.
Myers tells Altpress: "It's just about being honest. U2 is my favorite band of all time - it's that raw honesty that connects me to music. So, when we make music, we're going to write about what we've experienced or gone through.
"We're not going to go, 'Oh, this is on TV' - we've never been able to write about outside subjects. I think our fans can tell that it keeps us honest to who we are." Watch the full interview here.
Dickinson recently said: "The album celebrates the American oral tradition of blues and folk songs, not only being passed down and evolving, but being transcribed - the original recording technique - and entered into the discipline of written sheet music and songbooks.
"Is it too late to tell your and your community's tales through the vinyl groove and the block lettered, mimeographed page? Never! The lives and legends of modern-day folk music heroes will live on. The spirit of American roots rock'n'roll will shout to the man, the masses, and disposable pop culture: 'F*** off. Even in death, the art lives on.'" See the tour dates here.
Directed by Brady Corbet, The Childhood Of A Leader is partly inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre's short story of the same name - a tense psychological drama tracing the formative years of a young boy and set against the backdrop of the 1919 Paris Peace Conference that led to the establishment of the Treaty Of Versailles.
Walker, who has previously worked with American outfit Sunn O))), once again teams up with longtime collaborators, co-producer Peter Walsh and musical director Mark Warman, with the latter conducting an orchestra comprised of 46 string players and a 16-piece brass section for the studio recording. The band say: "Attention inhabitants of Europe. We're excited to once again go on a headline tour in Europe this fall. Lots of old places, but also some new ones - tight, sweaty cramped venues mixed with bigger more spacious rooms depending on where you catch us. Looking forward to seeing all your lovely, sweaty faces screaming at us."
They'll be supported by Dinosaur Pile Up and Tim Vantol on select dates. Royal Republic are currently on the road, with their next scheduled performance taking place at Kiev's Atlas Weekend Festival on July 9. See the tour dates here.
Former Wildhearts bassist Danny McCormack will open at the Leeds, Newcastle and Cambridge shows in his new punk band, The Main Grains. Ginger said: "Let's feed your head and heart with some mighty melody and gargantuan guitars.
"The whole event is set to be a classic rock package, the likes of which haven't been seen on these shores since bands could all play." See the tour dates here.
The video is rather stripped down compared to other clips about strippers. Brown and rapper Famous Fresh are hanging with a bevy of bikini-clad beauties. The women dance and look sexy on a set of stairs and a red Ferrari.
Brown released "Grass Ain't Greener" back in May and said it would be featured on his forthcoming album titled Heartbreak on a Full Moon. So far, there's no release date for the project and no word if "Leave Broke" will be a track on it. Watch the video here.
The record will be available for pre-order this Friday July 8th, fans will instantly receive Shawn's current single "Treat You Better" plus new song titled "Ruin."
Mendes will preview the album for the first time with an event at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Saturday, September 10th. The first 1,000 fans to arrive at Shawn's Today outdoor concert on Friday, July 8th will be guaranteed presale access. Read more here.
I'm interested in pop music with an unpopular message, theme or idea. Like taking an unusual message and producing it in a popular fashion. I wrote "Insecure" in less than 10 minutes on the piano. If it flows easily and comes to me quickly I know it's gonna be good.
Pop culture right now is all about being self absorbed. People walk around and act like they are a God to mask their insecurity. So instead I tried to make a pop song about being insecure. Preaching the exact opposite of what our culture tells us and disguising it in a pop song.
Telling a story in a video is crucial to me. It has to have a good plot line with a few twists. I enjoy humor that makes the viewer slightly uncomfortable and unsure of what they are watching. I also want people to ask questions after viewing. Everything I produce has a deeper meaning than what you see on the surface.
The video for "Insecure" is about acknowledging your insecurity and letting go of it. It's about craving attention from someone who won't give it to you. Everyone goes through the experience of falling in love with someone who won't reciprocate. For me, the video is about wanting the attention of society, our mainstream media, and the people in the audience represent the skeptical majority. I have to literally spank my butt and go insane for them to notice me and finally they do, or at least the girl does.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you watch the video here and learn more about the EP right here!
