"The truth of it is, you can think one thing about a situation and the total opposite can happen," he said. "I had every intention of remaining friends with everybody, but I guess certain phone numbers have changed and I haven't received calls from a lot of people. I've reached out to a few of them and not got a reply. Certain people have pride issues, but it's stuff you overcome in time."
Perhaps their silence has something to do with Malik's increasing vocality about how creatively restricted he felt while in 1D. In December 2015, he spoke with Fader about how the band's pop formula eventually began to grate on him.
Malik echoes those sentiments in his Billboard interview, sharing that even though he appreciated his time in 1D, he often felt like writing songs was a machine-like endeavor. Read more here.

"My first reaction was to be like man that's a bummer, this isn't fun for me," says Swift. "But then my second reaction ended up being, hey that's actually kindof a really interesting character they're writing about, she jet sets around the world collecting men, and she can get any of them, but she's so clingy that they leave and she cries, and then she gets another one in her web and she traps them and locks them in her mansion and then she's crying in her marble bathtub surrounded by pearls."
"I was like, I can use this," Swift jokes. The performance comes from Taylor's stripped down set at the GRAMMY Museum on September 30th. Check out the unplugged version of "Blank Space" here.

"The holidays have been a roller-coaster for my bride," Rory Feek writes on his ThisLifeILive blog. "She's had some good days, some bad days - some wonderful moments, and some deep pain that the morphine just couldn't seem to touch. How could it' it wasn't that kind of pain."
He goes on to explain the emotional pain that comes to all around the holidays and how this year it affected Joey in a new way. "Though she managed a smile most of the time, Joey's heart was heavy and she was feeling some things she hadn't before'," he writes. "A sadness. A fear of the unknown. And even some anger-not at God, just at her situation I suppose. It's not easy for her to be as excited about what the new year holds in store as it was last year." Read more here.
The Arcs, which include Dan Auerbach, Leon Michels, Richard Swift, Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshonthe, wrote on their SoundCloud page, "It's like Billy Childish says, 'We live in troubled times.'
"Last week, we got a sneak peek at what goes on behind the curtains of our criminal justice system. A few sleepless nights later we gathered in the studio and wrote this song. Written, recorded, mixed and mastered in 2 days."
The speed with which the nearly 5-minute song was composed and produced doesn't come across. Exuding a slower quality with ethereal guitar and a high-hat laced beat, the lyrics are the song's major standout. Listen here.
Of course, Adele is being praised for her vocal performance on the album. But much like the care her vocal chords require to maintain their abilities, Adele needs to be in physical shape for her upcoming world tour.
That means going to the gym. Adele, who tends to steer clear of social media, posted a photo of herself at the gym and her face says it all. See the photo here.
We know Odell is a hip hop fan, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone the Giants' star shared how Drake's music speaks to him. "A lot of his songs, it's almost as if he wrote them and had me in mind," Beckham told the publication.
"All of his music was about what he's experienced or what he's gone through - he's never tried to put on; he's always been exactly who he said he wasit's about taking a leap of faith, being bold, being who you are."
Check out Odell's rap here.
While even DJ Mustard doesn't know when the tracks will drop, he admitted he was surprised to learn Spears wanted to work with him in the first place. "This dude that signed me, JGramm, he's a producer. He was like, 'Yo I got this song,'" Mustard recounts. "He's like, 'Man, I think Britney Spears would be tight on it.'"
DJ Mustard continued, "I never thought I could do that, I never thought I could be like, 'Yo, let's call Britney Spears.' I didn't even think she'd want to do it. Next thing you know, like, 'Alright, she's going to cut the record.'"
What happened when DJ Mustard got an opportunity to work with one of the biggest names in pop? He showed up late, of course. DJ Mustard admitted being tardy to the studio the day he was set to record Spears. But Spears took it all in stride. "Nah she was just kindashe was cool," he said. Listen to his new track here.
I remember it was late autumn. Larry Nacht and I had gotten together in New York to write. We already had "Rebound," as well as bits and pieces of other songs. We were still looking for that one song that kind of encapsulates all the others. Brings them all together, with one overriding theme.
At some point I went back to LA, and we were on the phone. Larry says "listen to this." I hear a little guitar riff and then "will you still haunt me" And that was that. I mean, come on! "Will you still torture me so gorgeously" If that isn't love, I don't know what is.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and watch the video right here!
