Drake's 'Views From the 6' Title Explained

(Radio.com) Canadian rapper/singer Drake has one of the most anticipated projects of the year. When the album was still in its infancy, Drake announced it would be called Views From the 6. Many wondered what the "Jumpman" rapper was referring to with the title. Here's a short explanation of Drake's new album title.

Basically it's an homage to Drake's beloved hometown of Toronto. The city is nicknamed "The 6" because the city's two area codes 416 and 647 both include the number 6.

Toronto is also made up of the 6 previous municipalities of Toronto, North York, Scarborough, York and Etobicoke, and East York. So that may factor in too. Read more here.

Kid Rock's Call To 911 Released

(Radio.com) "I need a f-ing ambulance! What part of send an ambulance don't you f-ing hear? Send a god- ambulance now!" shouts Kid Rock in a chilling call to 911 after his 30-year-old assistant Michael Sacha was killed in an ATV accident early Monday morning (April 25) at Rock's Nashville Home.

In the five-minute-long police recording, Rock starts calmly enough, stating in a shaken voice, "My assistant looks to be dead from a Polaris ATV accident." Then he provides necessary information to the 911 operator and repeats himself when she tells his his phone is "breaking up really badly."

A minute into the call Rock asks the operator, "Did you send the ambulance?" and she replies, "I have not yet because I don't know what's going on. What is your name sir?"

That's when Rock becomes audibly flustered. "Send an ambulance now! My Polaris is off the driveway and my assistant looks to be dead. There's a body laying next to it!"

"Sir, you yelling at me is not going to help your situation," She continues. "I'm gonna send an ambulance. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on, okay?"

At that point Rock loses it and a woman he is with takes the phone and explains what seems to have happened. She adds that she was getting ready to go to the airport with the rocker when they found Sacha was not in the house. Read more here.

B.o.B Streaming New Song 'Roll Up' Featuring Marko Penn

(Radio.com) Considering he dropped an earth-friendly mixtape on Earth Day, B.o.B seems a few days late for his newest single, which is all about getting high and having a good time. The Georgia rapper released "Roll Up," featuring Marko Penn.

"Roll Up" has a chill vibe to it thanks in part to subtle ukuleles that layer the track."Sometimes I get high to free my mind/ Is that alright?" B.o.B sings in the song's opening measures.

But it's not all soft, sweet melodies. The track has a strong beat, and enough choral vocal doubling to bring high energy in spite of the overall relaxed theme. Check it out here.

Kesha In The Recording Studio With Zedd

(Radio.com) Kesha's recording career has been in a kind of limbo since February when her injunction to leave Sony was denied. Since then, she has allegedly rejected a settlement offer because she refused to back away from claims that producer Dr. Luke abused her.

But now she seems to be preparing for a return. Last night (April 26) she shared a photo on Instagram of her in the recording studio with Zedd--who provided a platform for her return to Coachella. During the first weekend of the festival, she joined Zedd and performed "True Colors."

"It's a miracle when someone gives you a chance at finding your voice again with no reason other than that he is a f-ing beautiful person with a heart of gold," she wrote. Read more here.

D'Angelo Tributes Prince With 'Sometimes It Snows In April' Cover

(Radio.com) There's been an outpouring of musicians doing what musicians do best when a legend passes away: pay tribute in song. D'Angelo appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 26, when he added to the numerous Prince tributes by performing "Sometimes It Snows In April."

D'Angelo performed his cover the mournful song with "Princess" aka Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum. Wearing a white fur vest, which thanks to the stage lights took on a faint purple glow, D'Angelo sat at the piano.

The lyrics took on an especially powerful meaning: "Sometimes it snows in April/Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad/Sometimes I wish life was never ending/And all good things, they say, never last," D'Angelo's vocals staying relatively quiet compared to his normal funk and R&B-tinged songs. Towards the song's end, he changed the lyrics to "I often dream of heaven/I know that Prince is there." Read more and check out the cover here.

Beyonce's Father Denies Ever Hitting Her

(Radio.com) Matthew Knowles has remained relatively quiet since his daughter Beyonce released Lemonade on April 23. But he wants to be clear about one thing in particular: He never hit his daughter.

"I can say I have never in my life hit my daughter," Knowles said on Sirius XM's Make It Plain on April 25. 'So she has never been a slave to the back of my hand because I didn't believe in that" (via US Magazine).

His response follows something Beyonce read as part of the transition between songs on her HBO special. Somali British poet Warsan Shire penned the spoken word poem, which includes the line, 'Did he convince you that he was God? ' Are you a slave to the back of his hand? Am I talking about your husband or your father?" Read more here.

Singled Out: Eric Taylor Escudero

Indie Folk artist Eric Taylor Escudero tells us about the song "We Were Young And It Was Morning Part 1" from his latest album "We Were Young And It Was Morning". Here is the story:

We Were Young and It Was Morning - Part 1 is a song about being away from home, feeling out of place, and searching for a place to belong to. The lyrics in the chorus "She said 'I've never seen your face, you must be cold, you must be lost'" and in the ending "How does it feel to walk alone/to be one thousands miles from home" make the subject of the song pretty clear.

The initial inspiration for came from a trip to Southern Brazil. There are descriptions about the mountains, the weather, the people and etc. I think it's a very visual song and believe the listeners can really picture places and at the same time relate to the song wherever they are, since the feeling is pretty much universal.

I really like the arrangement for this song, the musicians that recorded with me are very creative people and helped me make the song more interesting. We recorded at The Womb in Austin, Tx, which was great experience musically and personally.

I had decided that the album was going to be called "We Were Young and It Was Morning", and had already a song with that title, which became "We Were Young and It Was Morning - Part 2". This song remained unnamed for years until I realized that it contained most of the feeling of the album and really felt like it completed the "Part 2" very well. Thus, what had previously been the song "We Were Young and It Was Morning", became "We Were Young and It Was Morning - Part 2", with this single being the "Part 1"

The promo video for this song was recorded in So Paulo and Itanham, Brazil.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself as you watch the video here and learn more about the album right here!
