The tally gives Adele the biggest opening week for a No. 1 UK single in three years, dating back to James Arthur's X Factor winner's single "Impossible" (490,000 sales) in December of 2012.
The singer also beat the previous streaming record held by Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean?", which recorded 3.87 million streams in a single week last month.
"Hello" is the lead single from Adele's long-awaited third album, "25", which was produced by Greg Kurstin and is due November 20. Watch the video for the song here.
After the event, Bieber took to his Instagram to explain. "Sadly it's Been a rough week for me, long days no sleep, while having to be 'on' as they would say for cameras fans etc," he said in a post to Instagram.
Biebs was using a shirt to wipe water from the stage when his fans in the front row grabbed at the shirt he was using to clean the mess. "I just need you guys to get warmed up. Yo, what are you doingYo listen to me, are you listening to me? OK I'm trying to wipe the floor, give me a second yo," Bieber said to the overzealous fans before storming off stage. "Guys, never mind, I'm done. I'm not doing the show."
Bieber's explanation revealed his "human" side. "In no way did I mean to come across mean, but chose to end the show as the people in the front row would not listen," he said. "Hopefully people will understand where I am coming from. I don't always handle things the right way but I'm human and I'm working on getting better at responding not reacting. Unfortunately people were affected by this as am I. For the people in the back I am so sorry and for anyone I may have disappointed im sorry. Sorry for wasting the tv people's time I'll be sure to make it up to you next time on tour.. With love Justin."

The enigmatic poster shows a colorful 'flower of life' design with "December 4" listed below. So what makes this a Coldplay advertisement and not something else? The design mirrors one Chris Martin wore at a recent Festival appearance by the band.
Atlas Project, a dedicated Coldplay news site, confirmed the similarity, posting a side-by-side photo of Martin's t-shirt with the tube advertisement on Instagram. Read more and see the posts here.
The pair got into the spirit of the Halloween season, with Swift dressed as Olaf the Snowman from "Frozen" while Menzel portrayed Elsa the Snow Queen.
"Frozen totally happened tonight," posted Swift. "And 55,000 people sang 'Let it Go' so loudly, it nearly took my breath away." Swift's concert at Raymond James Stadium marked the final date of her North American tour in support of "1989."
The pop superstar will enjoy a week off before resuming her world tour in Singapore on November 7. Watch video of the Halloween performance here.
The music video for the clip finds a platinum blonde Grande dancing on a sort of "Hotline Bling"-ish set with lots of neon pastel colors and even a cube.
However, as an able dancer, she is unable to mimic Drake's fairly ridiculous moves. Which hasn't seemed to slow it down: it's been viewed over a million times since being posted just a few hours ago. Will it be as meme-d as "Hotline Bling"? Time will tell. Watch the video here.
Billboard reports the group's second straight chart-topper sold 192,000 equivalent album units in its opening week, including 179,000 pure album sales.

Goulding also released a moving live performance of the song, recorded and filmed at Abbey Road Studios. Performing with an orchestra accompaniment, Goulding's vocals take a softer approach, exposing a more vulnerable side to the song's already powerful refrain.
Earlier this year, when she was working on her album, Goulding shared photos on Instagram of her recording at Abbey Road Studio. Today, brings those moments full circle. Watch the clip here.
"I shouldn't really be doing this but!" he tweeted, along with a video of himself singing along with the track."Please believe me, don't you see the things you mean to me, oh, I love you, I love you, I love, I love, I love Olivia," goes the brief snippet.
Payne followed that tweet with something less expected, a video of him singing along to Travis' 1999 single "Why Does It Always Rain On Me". See the posts here.

Reid Perry said, "Well, for us, it is a big deal to support the troops. And not just the troops, but their families as well. They're overseas fighting, but the families at home are sacrificing a lot as well. They're sacrificing memories and a lot of years that they'll never get back."
Kimberly Perry added, "Yeah, it's our way of saying thank you. We're truly honored to be a part of the night. We're so grateful for our troops and their families too."
Reid noted that members of their family have also served: "Family members from our grandparents' generation served in World War II. We also have fans who have served, and some of them have told us how our songs have helped them through that."
And Kimberly points out that this is far from the first time that they're performing for our troops: "We've also done several USO events which have been hugely rewarding. It's really cool - we did one outside of London on a military base, and it was great to see the American spirit going crazy, even overseas."
The stripped down acoustic concert will pay tribute to those who currently serve or have previously served in our armed forces, and their families. Read more here.
In this alternative ending, posted on the Google Play app, which offers unique 360 views, viewers actually get to see what went down between Rih Rih and her naughty accountant.
The video offers up some seriously twisted POV shots, as Rihanna stabs her accountant and watches him bleed out. This certainly gives new meaning to that old turn of phrase, "Trick or treat?" Watch the 360 version here.

Many have noted that Adele uses a dated flip phone in her new video, Corden takes it step further. You can watch the drama unfold in the parody clip here.
Bieber appeared on The Diego Show, and was interviewed by the titular wife hating puppet Digeo. "My wife is crazy, says the puppet, "she checks my phone like every day."
Bieber offers sage advice. "You've gotta be conscious if you're gonna message someone, just delete the message, or be good, you know, if you love your wife don't mess around."
