Michael Jackson's Death Officially Ruled A Homicide
AP reports: Michael Jackson's death has been ruled a homicide caused by a mix of drugs meant to treat insomnia, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press, while his personal doctor told investigators he was actually trying to wean the King of Pop off the powerful anesthetic that did him in.

Forensic tests found the anesthetic propofol combined with at least two sedatives to kill Jackson, according to the official, who spoke Monday on condition of anonymity because the findings have not been publicly released. Based on those tests, the Los Angeles County Coroner has ruled the death a homicide, the official said.

The coroner's homicide ruling does not necessarily mean a crime was committed. But it makes it more likely criminal charges will be filed against Dr. Conrad Murray - A lot more details here

Vh1 Disown Killer's Reality Shows
antiMusic reports: Vh1's blog posted what they are calling their official statement about the show featuring the man accused of murder. In fact, Ryan Jenkins who was found dead in Canada, was part of two Vh1 shows which the network's blog announced were "sad" to announce we cancelled.

Here is their original statement, plus the "sad" update. Why they are sad to have less vapid crap polluting their airwaves is a mystery but they say they are said to let the lowbrow dating show go. First statement: Ryan Jenkins was a contestant on Megan Wants A Millionaire, an outside production, produced and owned by 51 Minds, that is licensed to VH1. The show completed production at the end of March. Given the unfortunate circumstances, VH1 has postponed any future airings. This is a tragic situation and our thoughts go out to the victim's family.

Update: We're sad to announce that both Megan Wants a Millionaire and I Love Money 3 officially have been canceled.

Jenn Grant Releasing New Album This Fall
PR reports: Jenn Grant announces the release of her sophomore full-length, Echoes, out this fall in the US on Six Shooter Records and distributed by ADA. The album is the follow-up to her critically-acclaimed debut album Orchestra for the Moon and features the talents of a heart-on-sleeve band of musicians led by producer/pianist Jonathan Goldsmith (Bruce Cockburn).

Echoes was recorded and mixed with a full analog process at The Studio at Puck's Farm in Schomberg, Ontario a location which is a throwback to a quieter, more simplistic time much like the three-stoplight town it is located in. Grant and her band - Goldsmith, Kinley Dowling (violin), David Christenson (bass clarinet), Sean MacGillivray (bass), and Gary Craig (drums/percussion) utilized the tranquil setting of the studio to craft the 11 tracks featured on the record. The warm yet rustic sounds of the album are perfectly complimented by Grant's vocals and the result is a collection of sincere and personal songs filled with heartbreak, love and a touch of whimsy. - more on this story
