Just about a year ago we were more than honored to participate in a special two-night event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. The two nights of shows at Madison Square Garden brought together an incredible group of artists and resulted in some pretty amazing collaborations.
A three-DVD set commemorating the performances, available in your favorite store or online site October 5, will include the full four-hour highlight special that aired on HBO. In addition to these 51 performances, there are an additional 16 bonus performances not seen on HBO and a collector's issue of Rolling Stone magazine featuring behind-the-scenes stories. There will also be a Blu-ray version available exclusively at Best Buy for the first 30 days.

Greg Olliver and Wes Orshoski directors/producers of "Lemmy" gave AOL an update on the progress of the film and some funny background info: Wes Orshoski says, "We've just emerged from a 32-day stint at a post house in Midtown Manhattan, where we mixed the film and a bunch of the bonus material in 5.1 Surround Sound, and cut the killer crop of extras, which includes plenty of featurettes and live footage Lemmy's extended jam with Metallica in Nashville and some 'Borat'-style pranks we filmed with Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell. Just great, great stuff. People are gonna love it! This stuff is only going to be available on the DVD. We wanted to give people every possible reason we could to actually buy the physical product. You kind of have to, in this day and age."
Later in the interview Greg Olliver related, "I was surprised that he yelled at me for being drunk. We were in Las Vegas and came back to the hotel casino after a long night of drinking and found Lemmy working one of the slot machines. I said 'Hey Lem.' And he said, 'Ahh, get away from me. You guys are drunk.' I belly laughed all the way back to my room, because I got yelled at by Lemmy for drinking!"

Here is what the band had to say: We're sorry to say that despite our best efforts, our plans to hit the road with Nevermore this month have sadly fallen through. As many of you know, we have been looking forward to being a part of this tour and seeing all of our fans again. However, we feel that in order to deliver our best performance every night, our search for a full time drummer has to take priority. Instead of hitting the road with a temporary member again, we want to take the time to properly audition and rehearse.
We did have another drummer lined up to accompany us on this tour, but due to a slow visa process, rehearsal time was cut to an unworkable amount. Mutiny Within is not a 5 piece band and we need to find our 6th member to bring you guys what you deserve. We're so sorry to anybody who was looking forward to seeing us on this tour, but we cannot tour without a drummer. We know people will be upset and we apologize, but know that nobody will be more upset about this than we are. On a positive note, this gives us the time to work on brand new songs, which we've been looking forward to doing for some time.

Based on Kathryn Lasky novels Guardians of G'Hoole, the film opens nationwide in theatres and IMAX on September 24th in both 3D and 2D and will be accompanied by an original motion picture soundtrack that will be released on September 21st by WaterTower Music.
"It is such an incredible honor to be part of this film. As a fan of both the children's book series growing up, and Zack Snyder's work as a director, having my music included is pretty surreal. I've been waiting for someone to make a movie like this for some time now. I'm endlessly grateful to be involved." Owl City's Adam Young

The landmark single represents the first time that these two blues titans have ever joined together on a studio release.
Asked what he considers himself Living Proof of, Buddy Guy answers modestly. "Do you know how many guys I started out with who just threw up both hands and quit?" he says. "My first wife said to me, 'It's me or the guitar,' and I picked up my guitar and left. We still laugh about that. But I'm still picking away at it, I don't know nothing else." In addition to the collaboration with B.B. King, Guy recruits fellow guitar legend Carlos Santana, who joins him on the slinky tune "Where The Blues Begins.

The band issued the following statement "Unfortunately tonight's gig reached an all time low. Two of our guitars got stolen (including our straps with wireless transmitters), obviously causing performance difficulties, frustration and anger. Then against all odds, further technical problems kept on coming down one after another during the show. Apologies goes out to our fans in Minnesota for having to go through this."
The stolen Mayones guitars were to be the grand prize in two Katatonia giveaways that were launched in celebration of the otherwise extremely successful headlining run on the "Night Over North America" tour. Fans are encouraged to check Craigslist, Ebay, local pawnshops, etc. for the missing guitars, and report any suspicious activity to the band.

"Paper Doll" is a really personal story that I wrote in response to women being labeled or held back in various waysparticularly in the music business. It just seems like female artists these days are all party girls, or the-girlfriend-of-someone-famous, or reality stars or whatever. I just want people to accept me as a singer! It's a shame that because of the pressure that artists feel, many turn to drugs or alcohol.
I've been so lucky - my first tour was with Robert Plant, Alison Krauss and T Bone Burnett's Raising Sand, and then I just got out of the studio with Don Was, who produced my new album Paper Doll. The whirlwind excitement of the past two years has been incredible, but also very educational. I've grown up a lot, and learned how to hold my own even with some of the biggest names in the music world and I want to share that strength with others who might feel that they have to be a Paper Doll in order to make it.
I've always followed my heart and tried my best to stay true to myself and my art. My goal is to be a part of keeping honest music alive.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the EP and the album

Orum spoke with the site during the New York stop of the Summer Slaughter tour and told them the story of meeting Brett Hoffman the previous night: "I was a big Malevolent Creation fan growing up in the 90s. I got up to him, really sincere, going 'It's really nice to meet you guys" and he goes [deep voice] 'Do you have any f**king cocaine?'. I go no and then he puts his middle finger in my face and goes 'Then, f**k you!'"
When Orum started gushing about how he was a big fan of Hoffman, the Malevolent Creation frontman sounded off on All Shall Perish and bands like them: "I started elaborating. I know your bandI'm a fan of your band. He goes 'F**k your band. F**k all these new bands. You f**king ------ bands!' and I couldn't believe it. I had to walk away."

"Based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novel of the same name, The Lost World revels in adventure-flick thrills but is equally effective as a cinematic document of our fascination with our own prehistory. Featuring amazing stop-motion sequences by animation pioneer Willis O'Brien, who later animated King Kong, and enlivened by outlandish costumes and sets, this dyno-dino epic was a smash hit upon its release in the mid-Roaring Twenties...

The band will also play alongside A Life Once Lost at the CMJ Music Marathon Metal Sucks Showcase, which will be held October 20 at Club Europa. Baptized in Blood have already turned the discerning head of a metal icon, Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, who was so impressed that he has taken on the role of co-manager for the London, Ontario-based band, alongside Mark Adelman.
Additionally, Mike D of Dark Icon Design, who also serves as the bassist for Killswitch Engage, designed the album artwork. While Baptized in Blood may have friends in high places, the band doesn't rely on those associations; the five-piece delivers the goods with their bottom heavy, unrelenting metallic assault. Baptized in Blood are a classic Roadrunner signing that remains true the label's long-standing history as the standard bearer of the best in hard rock and metal.

Featuring virtuoso drummer Virgil Donati (Planet X, Steve Vai) and vocalist Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force), the album combines elements of hard rock, heavy metal and progressive rock with modern production. The band also includes bass player Doug Shreeve from Planet X, and second guitarist Estafania Daniel, a student of MacAlpine's.
Seven The Hardway's planned September/October European tour was cancelled earlier this month. "Due to the delayed release of the album (August instead of April) and the booking of the tour immediately following European summer vacation, there has not been adequate opportunity to properly promote the record or the tour," the band said in a statement. "We plan to re-book in the future, once the new album has had a chance to be heard by our fans."

Having recorded the majority of the record in Portland and at some of the most prestigious studios in Los Angeles, the band still wasn't able to capture the exact sound they were looking for. Into the picture walks Manny Nieto (HEALTH, The Breeders).
"Manny ended up taking our record and bringing all the tones out of the mix with this amazing room sound he has learned to use. The result was us immediately sounding bigger, trashier and much more raw. Minnesota and Skinny State were two of three tracks that were completely recorded in Manny's studio. I think the 7 inch shows a level that we wanted to take our music to that we would have never been able to get to unless we worked with Manny," says guitarist Collin Desha.

Liverpool (to be released September 28 on Moon Boy Music) isn't the first time Lanz has approached the repertoire of the Fab Four or their British Invasion kin. On his acclaimed 1998 masterpiece Songs From An English Garden, he presented his versions of such Beatles classics as "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "I'll Follow the Sun," as well as timeless tunes originally recorded by the Rolling Stones, the Moody Blues, the Kinks and other English bands of that golden rock era. And on Cristofori's Dream, the landmark 1988 album that topped Billboard's very first Adult Alternative/New Age chart for an astonishing 27 weeks, Lanz reworked Procol Harum's magisterial "A Whiter Shade Of Pale." A stunning reinvention of the 1967 Summer of Love hit, many consider Lanz's adaptation of the song second only to the original -- no doubt due, in large part, to the participation of original Procol organist Matthew Fisher on the track. (Additionally, Lanz earned a Grammy nomination for his 2000 composition, East Of The Moon).
