Naked Janet CD Cover
Much Music reports: This is what you call
taking advantage of a situation. After the fallout over Janet Jackson's
breast exposure during the Super Bowl Halftime show, the pop singer is
giving us another peak. Her record label has confirmed that the album cover
for Jackson's new disc will feature the singer topless. When "Damita Jo"
hits the shelves on March 30, consumers will be confronted by a naked Janet
from the waist up, covering her breasts with her arms. The record's first
single, "Just A Little While" was released the week of the "nipplegate"
incident. - Click

Courtney Loses Daughter At
Grammys
Rock Dirt reports: On Sunday, Courtney
Love lost her 11-year-old daughter with the late Kurt Cobain of Nirvana,
Frances Bean, at the Staples Center during the Grammys. They ultimately
found each other, and ET special correspondent Paula Abdul was there to
interview the pair just after Courtney blocked our camera because of "low
blood sugar." Frances told her mother, "You said you were going to be in
your seat. She must've gotten caught up ..." Courtney joked in response,
"I'm getting the wire hangers out. No wire hangers! You know, my favorite
movie's 'Mommie Dearest'." She then said, "We just can't keep out of trouble,
can we? I'm glad we're in the music community and not a normal concert.
That would've been scary."- Click

Nazi Metal Threats
siN's metal news reports: The following
message was written by STRATOVARIUS frontman Timo Tolkki:
The STRATOVARIUS forum has been closed because 2 individuals sent an email to the Finnish police and claimed that STRATOVARIUS supports Nazis. This claim is outright ridiculous and deserves that I tell these 2 idiots: f*** OFF!!!
The forum was subjected to a calculated attack by people who wanted the whole site brought down. We are considering legal options against these individuals. There were coordinated posts by Nazi trolls, and minutes after that email was sent to the police claiming STRATOVARIUS supported racial hate speech.
STRATOVARIUS has never and never will support any form of physical violence. We might break toilets, hotelrooms and occasionally piss to places where you should not piss, but we do not encourage any form of violence to our fellow human beings. We are all part of THE HUMAN RACE.
Speaking of which that the hate mail has continued to pour in. I have received about 40 handwritten letters of hate mail. New singer MissK has received more and the most horrible thing was in the form of a packet that arrived from Brazil. It contained ----. Thank you very much indeed from the bottom of our drunken hearts. - Click Here for the Full Story
I thought we got some strange hate mail. Check out the full story link for the entire statement.

Blabbermouth reports: Dave Mustaine is
scheduled to begin mixing the new MEGADETH album "somewhere around the
middle of March/beginning of April," the guitarist/vocalist revealed in
an online posting. "The time factor is based on [producer/mixer] Jeff Balding
[JEWEL, TRISHA YEARWOOD, LONESTAR, SHANIA TWAIN] squeezing this session
into his previously booked schedule. This worked out great for me because
I always wanted to get some perspective in-between and away from the sessions

From Nothing To Perfect
I Ate Your Microphone reports: Ex-Nothingface
bass player Bill Gaal has issued a statement on his new project Perfect
Enemy, which also includes former Nothingface vocalist Matt Holt amongst
it's ranks:
"After spending the last 6 months writing music for my side project Perfect Enemy, it became obvious that these songs were going to be extremely different than what I had been writing previously in Nothingface. These songs were exploring a more melodic and complex side of my writing that may not have been appropriate for a Nothingface album and I found that my roots in bands like Jawbox and Shudder to Think> were beginning to come to the surface of my writing. It was probably some of the most honest and exciting music I had ever written! I sent these new songs to Matt and he immediately got it. We have always shared a love for the old Washington D.C. music scene and the idea of finishing off these songs together was really exciting for both of us. Matt and I are in the process of putting together the last few members of Perfect Enemy as I write this. Fans should expect a band that is musically very diverse, melodic and heavy. I will be playing guitar and singing, Matt will be singing and playing some guitar, with another guitar player, bass player and drummer to be announced soon. We can't wait to get this project out to you guys, see you soon." - Click Here for the Full Story

QOTSA Confusion
Blabbermouth reports: Contrary to an article
posted at MTV.com last night (since corrected), SCREAMING TREES members
Van Conner (bass) and Barrett Martin (drums) have NOT joined QUEENS OF
THE STONE AGE.
The somewhat confusing QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE "family tree" on the group's web site was apparently the source of the mix-up, with MTV.com mistakenly misreading the tree to indicate that Conner and Martin have been enlisted to replace Nick Oliveri and Joey Castillo, respectively.
While Oliveri's departure has now been confirmed by the band's management, there is nothing to indicate that Castillo has left the group. Meanwhile, a posting on the web site of vocalist Mark Lanegan (SCREAMING TREES) appears to confirm reports that the singer is no longer a member of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE. According to the his web site, Lanegan will devote his time to his own band, which is scheduled to release an album, titled "Bubblegum", in the spring. - Click Here for the Full Story
Creed's Passion
VH1 reports: People have been saying for
years that Scott Stapp likes to write songs for Jesus, and they're right.
The Creed singer has put together four songs for Mel Gibson's controversial
new movie "The Passion of the Christ."
Walking the red carpet at music mogul Clive Davis' Grammy party on Saturday, Stapp said he's in talks with his label for permission to hand at least one of the tracks over to the actor/director. "Hopefully that goes through. He wants to do it real bad, and I do too," Stapp said. - Click Here for the Full Story
VH1 has a lot more tidbits on Stapp including his new solo cd and wanting to break into acting.

Radio Won't Play This
Since it's a slow news day, here is a
shameless plug: Did you know that three of the biggest selling bands in
history happened basically by mistake with very little help from their
record companies? We owe the biggest selling album of all time to the fact
that a secretary pulled a photo and demo out of a trashcan because she
thought the signer was cute (an A&R person tossed the photo and demo).
The biggest selling band in history got their first hit by coordinating
a letter writing campaign because the label refused to promote them and
thought that their signing was a joke. What's worst after they had a string
of hits in the UK their American record company proclaimed "They won't
do anything in this market". And the third group went on to sell tens of
millions of albums but their own record company couldn't get the members
names straight. Read the full story of "Running on Stupidity" in this month's
antiTorial. - Click
