Devilskin recently released a new single called "Corrode" from their forthcoming album "Red", and to celebrate we asked Paul Martin to tell us about the track. Here is the story:
From our third studio album RED we are proud to present Corrode.
It's a stompy staccato riff that weaves a rich and haunting soundscape for Jennies alluring vocal melodies.
It's compelling and sincere, plus it's a lot of fun to play with its primal, evocative pulse. Corrode is a dark and brooding new song that is as grimy as it is visceral.
An insight into the mind of someone feeling the weight of mundane daily struggles that become overwhelming and all-consuming, Corrode succinctly captures the helpless horror that is a tormented and desperate cry for help.
It's about the fragility of life when you feel crushed by everyday pressures. It's about reaching out and asking for help, confronting your demons and finally realizing that the cause, and the cure is yourself.
The video beautifully translates this emotionally charged song into an epic visual monster and it was most definitely our most challenging video to date. For part of the shoot we were immersed in a pool of red liquid and had to play our instruments covered in a wet, cold, thick, red mess.
Also it was composed mostly of red dye, water and cornflour so it was an absolute nightmare to clean off, once the hot water hit us it turned solid, like pancakes. Glad the video came out looking spectacular!
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen and watch for yourself right here!
