Bird3 Deliver Classics and New Songs At Reunion Concert

Bird3 made their official live return last week in Los Angeles when the three original members reunited for an intimate showcase on Wednesday night (October 16th) at Molly Malone's.

Founding vocalist and guitarist Bird, bassist Greg Coates and drummer Michael Miley (Rival Sons), took the stage with new guitarist and keyboard player Conrado Pesinato to perform new music as well as some of the signature songs from their 2001 self-titled album.

The band kicked things off with a new song called "Why Not" which the crowd received enthusiastically, followed by additional new songs from their forthcoming album, including their current indie hit single "F*** This Heart Of Mine", which has become an online hit with over three million streams.

They capped off the show with two of the songs from the Bird trilogy from their debut album, "Air Crisp" and "Indoor", and brought the house down with their classic hit "Forgot Your Name", which was also featured in the "National Lampoon's Van Wilder" trailer and film.

antiMusic founder Keavin Wiggins was on hand for the show and had this brief review: "The magic is still there. There are some bands where you put certain people together and it is like they were meant to play together and that describes Bird 3 perfectly.

"It's been 18 years and their album is still a constant in my music rotation. I think the thing that attracted me to them from the start is that the level of musicianship of the members allowed them to be rather diverse and explore multiple genres of rock while maintaining their signature sound even when playing songs that are wildly different from each other.

"And that same magic was still present when they played the first notes at this reunion show through the very end. They had the attention of the audience from the first note. They performed a few news songs that many people had probably not heard before but had everyone in the room captivated during the entire performance. And I'm sure others feel the same way as me and can't wait to get their hands on the new album after receiving only a small taste of what is to come."

Bird3 was formed by Bird, Coates and Miley in 1999 in Long Beach, California and quickly amassed a large local following that lead to a record deal with indie label Immergent, who put out their debut album in the spring of 2001.

The group promoted the album with various tours including treks with The Cult and Veruca Salt and received additional exposure from the placement of music in the "Van Wilder" film and the hit television series "Felicity" before they decided to part ways in 2002, but despite breaking up, the members remained friends.

At the beginning of the year Bird decided that he wanted to return to music and went on a prolific songwriting spree and word soon spread to his former bandmates Coates and Miley, who both expressed an interest in performing together again.

With Rival Sons wrapping up their summer coheadlining tour with Stone Temple Pilots the previous week, that opened the door for the special reunion showcase. With more hopefully to come. Visit their official website for more here.
