AC/DC Frontman Previews Dolly Parton TV Interview

AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson previews this week's episode of his AXS TV series Life On The Road with a special clip where featured guest Dolly Parton discusses her massive hit "I Will Always Love You".

Dolly wrote the song after a heated fight with her longtime professional partner and mentor, the late Country icon Porter Wagoner, and Whitney Houston would later go on to score a huge hit with her cover for "The Bodyguard" soundtrack.

Parton shares in the preview clip, "I went home with a heavy heart, and I wrote 'I Will Always Love You'. I went back to Porter and said, 'You won't listen to what I'm saying, please sit down and listen to this song.' He started to listen to it and I started playing it with my guitar, and he started to cry. He said, 'Ok, you can go, if I can produce that song.'"

The single went on to top the Country charts, Elvis Presley wanted to record it but she was unwilling to concede half of the publishing rights to Presley's team. Dolly explained, "I grieved over that. I just cried my heart out, 'cause I was just picturing Elvis singing that. Can you imagine?"

But it was the right decision for Dolly. "After Whitney Houston recorded it, I was so glad I kept the full publishing! I wrote 'Jolene' and 'I Will Always Love You' the same night, and I thought, 'Buddy, that was a good night!'"

The episode premieres Nov. 10th at 9pE/6pP. Until then, watch the preview clip here.
