Secondborn - Symbols

.
If you can tell Secondborn is from Lafayette, LA, you're better at noticing Southern accents than most. Symbols is a tight, rocking EP that will immediately appeal to anybody that's attended a Warped Tour.

Daniel Pinner is the band's lead vocalist and sings these songs with a gruff, yet melodic singing voice. Although the group retains a punk feel, the electric guitar solo on "Say Love" might fit onto just about any Journey classic rock song you'd care to name. You can hear more pop elements seeping through during "Secrets." This is one that clearly shows the group has listened to more than just rock music. The group reveals its softer side with one called "In Winter," which is a shivering-ly serious near-ballad. "Tears are falling like cold rain," Pinner emotes, and you can feel the chill with every imaginary drop that falls. "Kings Blood" is given a "Symbols Remix," which further shows this act's stylistic elasticity.

Secondborn has the skills and ambition to move quickly with the raging river that is today's music business.
