Singled Out: Eddy Mann's All I Need Is You

Philly folk artist Eddy Mann today tells us the story behind his latest single "All I Need Is You" which is a track from his album "The Consequence." Here is the story:

All I Need Is You was written right on the heels of the Dig Love album. Recording had just been completed and during that moment where you take a deep breath and relax, it happened in a heartbeat.

I was taking stock of my life at the time and realizing just how much stuff I had gathered over the past few years. So much so that I didn't even remember some of what I had acquired.

I started to embrace just how unimportant a lot of these things were and began to look a bit deeper into my own heart. I was searching for what really mattered to me. What was it that I really needed each day? What was it that I couldn't live without?

At that moment the lyric took shape and it was one of those songs that sung to me right away. The opening guitar hook was conceived the next day as I was attempting to track a demo version.

I played it live for a year before recording it on The Consequence album, so the song grew and matured quite a bit through those performances. On the album the end of the song has this alternative guitar figure that drives the fade out, but live there's a breakdown section that's completely unscripted. It takes the audience to a whole new place. It's currently one of my favorite songs to play each night.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
