Singled Out: Armond Jason's Monster

Armond Jason is gearing up to release his debut album "The Gold Album: Signature" next month and to celebrate we asked him to tell us about the single "Monster". Here is the story:

So, I wrote Monster based off of a situation that happened to me a few years back. I had dated this girl and soon to find out, we just weren't compatible. The big issue was, we hung out with all the same people. My friend circle went up in flames due to dating her and a certain dude that was jealous from the beginning. People within the group refused my side of the story and automatically started to take sides. Out of this incident, three of my closest friends to this day were the only people who stuck by me. Everyone else essentially treated me like a monster when it came to the break up between me and this girl. So, I say this as advice to people, don't date someone within your circle. Secondly, unfortunately, when you are with someone even people that you assumed were good friends will do by any means to make things fail...So to this day, I learned to keep a small circle. I have a strong belief now that you don't have to have a bunch of friends in order to be successful as a musician. I feel if the music is good and you make the right moves, then you're golden.

To jump into the recording process, it wasn't until I started creating the instrumental and used those specific instrumentations that it brought back that memory. I wanted to write the song in a way that it would be fitting for a type of monster movie. All of the colors I see when making an instrumental give off a type of vibe. If I were lucky enough, I wish I was able to have the song in the new Beauty and the Beast movie coming out, or perhaps some other sappy monster love story. I believe people will notice a trend with what I write. When I create an instrumental, the emotion of it fits with what I'm talking about. Pure and vivid scene painting emotion is something that is missing from a lot of today's music, so I want to make an effort to envoke that missing emotion.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the album right here!
