Chuck Berry Announces His First New Album in 38 Years

Rock and Roll legend and pioneer Chuck Berry celebrated his 90th birthday by announcing that he will be releasing his first new studio album in 38 years, entitled "Chuck", next year.

Berry recorded the new effort at a number of studios in the St. Louis area, according to the announcement, and it will feature mostly new songs that were written by the rock icon.

He is joined on the album by his children Charles Berry Jr. (guitar) and Ingrid Berry (harmonica), as well as Jimmy Marsala (bass), Robert Lohr (piano), and Keith Robinson (drums).

Berry is dedicating the new album to his wife of 68 years Themetta Berry. He says, "This record is dedicated to my beloved Toddy. My darlin' I'm growing old! I've worked on this record for a long time. Now I can hang up my shoes!"

Charles Berry Jr. had this to say about the new album, "What an honor to be part of this new music. The St. Louis band, or as dad called us 'The Blueberry Hill Band,' fell right into the groove and followed his lead. These songs cover the spectrum from hard driving rockers to soulful thought provoking time capsules of a life's work."
