(Radio.com) Rod Stewart is the latest music icon to be knighted in the UK. The singer was bestowed a knighthood at Buckingham Palace in recognition of his "services to music and charity."
Stewart, now officially Sir Roderick, shared his excitement with the following "[It's] a monumental honor . . . I couldn't ask for anything more. I thank Her Majesty and promise to 'wear it well.'"
The knighting was conducted by the Duke of Cambridge and Sir Roderick was honored in the Queen's birthday honors list, reports the BBC. Read more and check out video here.
