Capital Cities Release First New Song In Two Years 'Vowels'

(Radio.com) It's been two years since indie pop duo Capital Cities released new music, but they returned on Friday (September 30) with the release of a new single called "Vowels."

The relaxed pop song has a hint of electronic funk about it with synth-tinged brass punctuating the meter. "There's a freight train of emotion stuck in my lung/ I need to get it out, get it out before it's all gone/ So I'll just speak in vowels from now on," they sing on the opening verse. Capital Cities mean what they promise, getting literal on the chorus by invoking vowels like "A," "O" and "E."

Sebu Simonian said of the song, "When you can't express yourself with words, sometimes you just want to scream to get it all out. You need vowels to do that!"

There's no word about a follow-up to their 2013 album In A Tidal Wave Of Mystery, but with a new single and a brief headlining tour in the works chances are good fans will get a new project soon. Check out the dates for their fall tour and listen to "Vowels" here.
