(Radio.com) Music duo The Chainsmokers released their new EP Collage today (November 4th), along with their brand new single "Setting Fires," which features XYLO.
The EDM track builds to a big bass drop even while the subject matter stays firmly in somber territory. "Why's it easier to burn than it is to heal?" XYLO poses in the opening verse, turning philosophical momentarily before the duo unleash the more pleasurable rhythmic side of the track.
"Setting Fires" isn't quite as up-tempo as The Chainsmokers' big single "Closer," but it manages to convey the emotion which made that track so popular. "I can't keep you from harm/ But I'm set on fire to keep you warm/ I can't go on and on/ Setting fires to keep you warm," she sings on the chorus, which builds into a synth effect that weaves and wends around her voice.
