(Radio.com) All baseball attention is focused on the 2016 World Series between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians. However, last Friday night shared tweets between Smash Mouth and the Oakland A's was out of this park entertaining.
The drama started when John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle tweeted about Coco Crisp going from benched by the A's to plating the go-ahead run for the Indians in the World Series. That's when Smash Mouth decided to give their two sense.
"@Athletics You guys made ZERO key additions last off season. Same this off-season? You have great fans, come on give them something!," the band tweeted from their official account. Which prompted the since deleted response "Guess you've got it all figured out. Except how to make a hit since 1999." Ouch!
The A's ended up apologizing for their competitive spirit but we're not sorry with how much amusement we get out of this unexpected Twitter war. Check out all the tweets, including screen shots of the deleted posts here.
