(Radio.com) Last month, will.i.am assured fans that a Black Eyed Peas reunion was in the works. Last night, the band reunited in London at Royal Albert Hall short one essential member--Fergie--but seemed to have a great time nevertheless.
Fans attended the free show expecting a will.i.am solo set in conjunction with the launch of a new smartwatch. "We've been coming to the UK since 1999, and we used to play a place called the Jazz cafe," said Taboo. "The UK has always been supportive of our band."
Hits on the setlist included "I Gotta Feeling" and "Where is the Love?" with Fergie sections sung by Lydia Lucy, who will.i.am mentored on The Voice. A spokesman for the group said Lucy is not a permanent fixture moving forward. In a Thursday morning BBC interview, Will was vague about whether Wednesday's Fergie-less lineup represents the future of the band.
"In my head, if it's me and Taboo out at a club, that's the Black Eyed Peas," he said. "If it's me and apl, it's the Black Eyed Peas. If it's me and Fergie, it's the Black Eyed Peas. Right now, everyone is on their individual tip and I'm trying to build the new vehicle in which the Black Eyed Peas takes form." See some fan-shot footage from the set here.
