15-Year-Old Jennifer Lopez Lyric Causes Internet Stir

(Radio.com) In 2001, Jennifer Lopez was hitting her stride as a pop star. One of her biggest hits that year was the hip-pop duet with Ja Rule called "I'm Real." It seems fans didn't catch the opening lyrics to the track and now that the internet has figured it out, 15 years later, people are going crazy.

Apparently, music fans didn't know Lopez was spelling Ja Rule's name in the beginning of the song. The track opens with Ja's gruff voice saying, "What's my motherf-ing name?!" J. Lo responds. "R-U-L-E." However, listeners heard everything but that. Some people thought Lopez said "Are you ready?" or "Are you Ellie?"

Fans might have missed that tidbit because when "I'm Real" was on the charts the controversy was that Lopez used the n-word in the second verse. Read more here.
