(Radio.com) Troy Ave opens up about the shooting that occurred at T.I.'s Irving Plaza concert in May on his new mixtape Free Troy Ave. Over the course of the 11-track album, Troy addresses the incident both by rapping and talking straightforwardly about it.
On "Intro," it sounds like Troy Ave is rapping his verses from a jail telephone. "Locked in the jail but I'm gonna get free/ I wear icy gold chains, can't no brass break me/P-- n-- tried to assassinate me / I took the gun from him and turned the tables 'round like a G," he raps according to MTV News. Elsewhere on the track, Troy keeps stressing that he's innocent, unless they can charge him with being real.
To close the mixtape, Troy returns on "Outro" with a more serious tone in his voice. He doesn't rap but instead speaks to listeners. "And the world will know the truth, everybody will know I'm innocent. I know I'm good because my faith is in God. I ain't one of those n-- that pray when times is bad, I been praying," he said.
In late May, Troy pled not guilty to attempted murder charges after a shooting at T.I.'s show left one person dead and three injured, including Troy. He is currently being held without bail. Listen to Free Troy Ave here.
