The band Sister Hazel has paid their respects to the woman that inspired their name, Sister Hazel Williams. The Gainesville, FL missionary and the founder of Angel of Mercy in Gainesville Ministries died at the age of 91 on Friday (July 15th).
Frontman Ken Block had the following to say about the passing of Williams, "We are saddened to report that our namesake and iconic community leader, Sister Hazel Williams, passed away on Friday night.
"In her 91 years on this Earth she created powerful waves and the humanitarian ripples of her life will roll on forever. As a band and as ambassadors for Gainesville and for her good name, we will do our best to continue to impact our world in positive ways with kind messages, thoughtful music, and powerful community experiences that are filled with love, inclusion, service, and joy."
