(Gibson) Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has been confirmed to appear at this year's "Oscars" Academy Awards ceremony, according to media reports. Grohl will give a "special performance" on the show, although further details are not yet available. But why is Grohl there? It's certainly not clear what Grohl's connection is to the Oscars. He didn't write a song for any soundtracks within the 2016's awards time-frame and Foo Fighters' own Sonic Highways documentary, though great for music fans, isn't nominated. Grohl was also not involved with the Kurt Cobain documentary Montage of Heck.
Could it be something to do with David Bowie (a fine actor, lest we forget)? Grohl recently revealed that he had been asked to come up with a song for a movie soundtrack and decided to see if Bowie wanted to sing on it.
According to Grohl, Bowie responded, "David, I watched the movie and I got to be honest, it's not my thing I'm not made for these times. So thanks, but I think I'm gonna sit this one out." Read more here.
