Yes, Journey, Pearl Jam and Electric Light Orchestra lead the list of artists that will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fall during next year's ceremony.
The organization will also be inducting the non-rock artists Joan Baez and Tupac Shakur at the 32nd Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which will be taking place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 7, 2017.
While Chic was snubbed for induction this year, band leaders and acclaimed producer Nile Rodgers will be honored next year with the Award for Musical Excellence.
Prog legends Yes, who have long-been shut out from induction into the Rock Hall, reacted to the news that they will finally be recognized. Guitarist Steve Howe said, "What an honor this is for us and all involved with the history of this band.
"We thank all the Yes fans who have been so passionate over the decades, and helped us to keep the flag flying. It is the fans who have constantly demanded our inclusion. They have been heard."
Drummer Alan White added, "We look forward to accepting this esteemed award next spring in honor of our fallen brother, Chris Squire, who would have been delighted to see his musical vision finally receive such recognition. We thank everyone who voted for Yes. We'll see you soon, Cleveland!"
ELO lead singer Jeff Lynne made the following statement, "I am deeply honored to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and would like to thank all the great fans who have supported us over the years."
