Singled Out: Psychocide's Crazy Janet

Psychocide are gearing up to release their debut album "Alcohol & Bad Decisions" and to celebrate we asked Goldwyn (vocals/guitar) to tell us about the inspiration for the first single "Crazy Janet". Here is the story:

I wrote the song "Crazy Janet" on a flight to Miami, where I was meeting a friend who wanted to shoot a music video. The problem was, there was no music.

I had a guitar riff that I had been noodling around with for a few months, and seeing the deadline was the duration of the flight between NYC and Miami, I quickly put together a scratch track, which didn't change much when we actually recorded the song.

Lyrically, Janet which we refer to in the song is loosely based on an elderly woman who hosts bands during video shoots in Sheffield,UK. I believe she also hosted Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth). Nevertheless, she had a very interesting memory, she would barely remember anyone in the house but at the same time she would make new memories up as the day progressed, thinking we were her children, or that we resided with her for years.

I didn't spend enough time with her to write a full song about her, so I combined her and the elements of an ex-girlfriend which was a poisonous relationship; the typical love story where I couldn't live with or without her. She was a real pain in the ass, but that was also what attracted me more to her, just as she was drawn more to me when I ignored her as opposed to
when I cared for her.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
